Turn Discussion: Turns 1-19

Nice hammerproduction if we build on sheep ;)

Are people suggesting settling on the sheep or am I not understanding?

I guess we can forget about building the Great Lighthouse. It was already built in a distant land.

See for yourself.

To prevent its unbalancing effects?

I can understand this decision.

yes, I understand that me too, but also mean that the map is heavy coastal..so beware of Ragnar in the middle age

You are right of course, 10 turns to be precise;).

It seems likely to me that DaveMCW used one of our Migration, style map ideas. I will look through the threads, but I think it may have been remake20's or Calis's idea to start on small islands that were reachable by Galley, and then have to race to a large continent that is reachable with Optics. If that is the case, we have to start re-imagining things a little.

Anyway this should be fun.:)

It was map makers choice and I guess he just liked islands, even though most people were with snaky or GH. And I think we do need to explore before our next tech. If you don't mind Sommer I can post those screens.

you seen the map, we are on a tiny island. Go look at screens in the played turns. I don't think we will have any worries of warrior rushes.

The bottom is at least not very wide (no more than 2 cities), and although we see some tundra, it's possible there is more up top. There will at least be galley connection to the other players I am sure. If we do have only room for a few cities on our initial island we need an exploring workboats and galleys even faster. I might lean towards fishing before BW if this continues to look like we're on a very small island.

SC makes a good point about exploring the tundra. Just because we see tundra doesn't necessarily mean there's no decent land north of it. For all we know he could've placed tundra along the equator... I mean, this obviously isn't your run-of-the-mill AI-generated map.

Also, while I definitely think we should discuss our plan for if we're on an island, I think it's a little early to say we're on an island just yet even though it does seem quite likely.

I see no reason to head N. For our next scout move... uh let me see the screen.

Scout goes NE>N so we can stay along the coast.

Wow this is going to be an interesting game – I’m feeling a bit sheepish.

Potential National motto?
“AMAZON – land of the silver fleece”

WTH! We are on an island? Lame :(

Move scout along the coast has my vote to.

wow, i didn't see that one coming :) Given the map visible so far and the disabled GL we are indeed most likely on an island. The area to the east will give us a great production city, but if we're isolated we might need to worry a lot more about pushing our research up. Since we have so many food resources, the fastest way might be to spam scientists. Writing should be a high priority.

Too bad for our UU... if the island is small, we can't even go barb hunting :(. Then again, the extra happiness from CHA will be a huge asset!

NE > N sounds like a logical next move. By the time we have to decide on the next tech, we will know if we're on an island. If it's an island, fishing would be a good choice.

Priority scouting is along the coast. Even to see the diagnol tiles away from the island. Enable tile yields and look. It might be possible to get off the island with sailing, and it if is, we want that, even if the placement would otherwise be bad.

Loss of UU utility kind of sucks, but what can you do? We're not the only ones who got our UU's importance submarined on this map. If we want to abuse IMP though, it looks like we're going to go out on boats.
