Turn Discussion

Well we will be able to see if Sirius has Alphabet for trade when we meet them right? I don't think the Amazons would lie. They really want to get a solid alliance formed.

Before the server went down (still can't afaict) it appeared Sirius and AMAZONs traded techs. Worth checking by the next one of us who can log in. Thus AMAZONs may have Alphabet already now, or if not they might next turn, and we can see what they have. Possibly they both lack sailing, and we could trade that now.

In the absence of better news I'd turn our tech to 0 for gold again though, if we're not sure whether Alphabet is a waste and switching to Math is better.

Do we even need to research Alpha ourselves now? Assuming we become part of the ETTT we'll get it thru trade. If we're not a part of the ETTT then isn't it a moot point. Perhaps I'm misreading the ETTT. My understanding is that the members of the ETTT will all be on equal footing tech wise until such time that we no longer need the treaty.

We don't need to tech Alpha anymore as we will get it from Sirius or Amazons on request. So we should switch to Math and go up to 100% :science: this turn.

Oh- and one of the ETTT members might try to be friendly and offer us Alpha or something else in-game. If you log on and go into a diplo window that we weren't expecting to see: DECLINE and post about it here. It's easy enough to log back in and request whatever is being offered when we decide the time is right as a team.

Yes, I certainly agree - we can accept open borders, but not jump ahead of ourselves on techs; we might not want everyone seeing we're tech trading yet.

Looking at the turn tracker Mavs appear to have whipped this turn. Sirius and Amazons have traded already; and as per the attached screenshot Amazons have offered the trade to us. I declined it so we need to close this ETTT decision out this turn. I won't end the turn until we're all in agreement however there will be pressure from other teams to get on with it.

Let's iron out the wrinkles and decide this fellow Q!

PS> Iron Working is a place holder for the time being. I know we discussed Maths, however due to an email I skimmed from Amazons it appears that Sirius are working that ATM so it may be more duplication.

Gold is really the best placeholder; we don't even have a library or any multipliers yet that we are losing. Though yeah, we need to get this deal closed out soon, and hopefully in the next turn or two get this across to CDZ too.

I'm surprised they have so many techs between them though, guess it was a lucky combo of starting techs and all (having Masonry and AH and Sailing and of course AMAZONs have Polytheism). Sirius does seem to have somehow gotten lucky with their highest tech rate the whole time, fish and gold or something like that.

Well actually given latest developments from Sirius/AMAZON, who appear to be working on Math, and Monarchy, Iron Working could be fine, so whatever works for you. (it's not like gold could ever be bad, of course) Hopefully we don't duplicate too much with CDZ, who we need to be talking to as well.

Based on the fact that CDZ was also teching Writing I think we are safe to go Iron Working. So full speed ahead and we should get it in 8 turns. Along with Animal Husbandry this will give us good info for city placement.

Oh and great screenshots btw, thanks! :goodjob:

We should probably remove all that stuff in the build que for Continuum until we decide on it as a team. I think alot of people want to go for a worker next before a settler (especially if we have Iron/horses on our island).

We didn't have two settlers in a row did we? It's settler after galley right, but yes I know a ton of things were queued, probably more than we really have decided on.

I do know I personally wasn't for the galley first but it's a little late for that. Between the next settler/worker, I think I could go with either, and they work out close to the same (settler gets more production/commerce in the short term but worker gets a little more improvement time/production through eventual chops, but they should be mostly even)

So long as it's not galley => settler => another settler, if that's the case that's too many settlers without any workers.

you can see the build queue in the Continuum city screen shot in the official turn tracker. It's settler then worker after galley.

Attached is our post trade tech tree screen. We now have all of the first tier techs and all but archery on the second tier. Based on recent diplomatic messages I think that Horse Riding might be the way to go to avoid duplication.

Any sign of horses anywhere now that we have Animal Husbandry????

If CDZ is already well into Iron Working and we can get them to join the ETTT we might consider switching to Priesthood or even Archery to avoid duplication of effort.

I had a quick look around this morning and couldn't see any horses on land that we've already discovered. This suggests that it's as we expected; on the middle of a home island. Not ours either. It's possible that each island has a early strategic resource, Horses/Ivory/Iron.

I will take a combined screenshot of the known world this turn to add to the official turn tracker.

Ok- there is about a day left before the turn rolls. We currently have research set at 100% for the first turn of Iron Working (no beakers invested yet). CDZ has hinted that they may have already started Iron Working though, and we are trying to get them into the ETTT.

Should we switch back to 0%:science: for another turn until we figure out who is teching what in the ETTT? Although we have hit end turn we are still able to go in and change our research rate before the turn finishes. I think this would be the safe thing to do to avoid any wasted beakers.

Go for the gold, for now, until we have answered our questions.

I already anticipated that if CDZ have / are working IW we would want to do something else which is why its set for horseback riding. You want to go for a third turn of gold? Have went sent messages to the relevant emissaries?

Ummm... I don't think Horseback Riding is a good idea. We haven't spotted any horses and its a deadend tech.

I would rather get more gold at 0% :science: until we have a solid idea of what we are going for. Gold never runs out of style. The more we accumulate now the longer we can run at 100% research later.

Archery perhaps? They will all have to be teched at some point and really we're just buying time till we can get Maths from Sirius to do Calendar. We don't want to be seen to be leeching from the treaty before it even gets going...
