Turn Tracker / Save Info

I cant play for a "couple of hours". I also find it funny none of the admin have stepped in this discussion.

Aloha has voted in out forum....RETIRE is our choice. However..if a majority is not reached we will continue to play. I also find it a bit wrong to start enforcing the 24 hour rule now. If it occurs I will stop playing Aloha's turns( I cant promise 24 hour turn arounds) and I dont know if anyone on my team would pick them up if I left. IF you were going to enforce the rule, you should have started from the start..not now when one team complains.

This game is not dying because of the apparent one sided nature of it. its dying because it took dam near forever for anyone to meet. No diplo, no war till what 6-8 months into it, maybe a year. Thats too long and it killed interest

Aloha while we see the desire to play on and the "fairness" to continue for the teams that want to play, also want to retire. If the game will be continued, we will play but it really should end. The game engine itself none of us are currently playing except on this game. This version has been adjusted by teh patch and that makes it a differnt game than what we started.

This game can be played as a pitboss...put a 48 or 72 hour timer on it. If A tema needs more time they have it. But if a team or teasm want it to move fast they can play a marathon real time session. More power will be given to the turn player but as it is most of the turn players right now are following a outline of what to do or perhaps they are the only one playing.

Oh one more thing....Aloha predicted this before the patch. The patch did not increase those who could play the save. it did nothing. We should of killed the game and started over right then.

Aloha awaits the decision and this should only be UN reps votes not members of a team. decide in your forum. I am starting an official thread.(poll)...

Hi,

I also find it funny none of the admin have stepped in this discussion.
Yep, we wondered about that for a couple of times now... :crazyeye:

I also find it a bit wrong to start enforcing the 24 hour rule now.
I think what is a bit annoying (to me at least) is not the fact that the save does not get played in 24 hours, but that we don't know whether the save received any attention at all. With our current situation (late-game, war, dwindling teams etc.), 24 hours are very hard to achieve and I think our team simply got very lucky to have such a dedicated turn-player with enough time to play the save so quickly. I know I couldn't do this... so extensions, even more or less regular ones, shouldn't be a problem IMHO. But I think it would be easier to wait if we all received a quick update on the current turn player's status ("will be able to play in two days", "played half the turn, will finish tomorrow" etc.). Then at least we all knew the save is in the pipeline and not forgotten...at least this is how it is handled in many Succession Games. :)

Maybe you're right. I for one liked the build-up and expansion phase in the beginning, but I know that is not everyone's cup of tea... ;)

P.S.: And sorry to Killercane for the unneeded harsh words in my last post. I had a bad day and was a bit frustrated, but that is of course no reason to insult people. My apologies.

My offer to become turnplayer for a team lacking one still stands. But it would be best if we actually had input from a member of the team before I apply for membership (and revoke membership to Epsilon - the One True team ;))

If the game goes to pitboss (is that even possible ) I would still be able to take over for a team, but my preference is to continue to follow The Leader :worship:

OT: I don't think the map had anything to do with the drop in participation. The patches certainly had a huge impact on the loss of members, and the slow save turn-around didn't help either. Since we're seeing precisely same problems with the civ3 mtdg (where there aren't any patch issues) I lean towards blaming the number of teams: both games have 5 teams. That's a great number for interesting diplomacy, but it slows the game down considerably. The first MTDG had 4 teams, and that led naturally to bipolarization. 5 teams was an attempt to break that tendency. Perhaps the next game, if it is to be PBEM rather than PitBoss, should consist of 3 teams.

1675 to Aloha ... Unfortunately, I've not a lot of free time on my hands these days.

everyone involved has acknowledged their role in playing the game out to the end,
I consider this to be bad sportsmanship,
I'm not sure some of the comments in this thread are all that constructive. I understand that this is frustration speaking ... But I've been frustrated with this game for a lot longer. A lot longer! The game being played today is not the game that I signed up for. I signed up to be part of a team. So no, I have NOT acknowledged anything and the fact that folks such as myself and Killercane are still here is because of a sense of sportsmanship.

I don't know about the other teams, but Piffle lost the bulk of its members waiting for the game to start. There was quite a delay between signups and when the game eventually got kicked off. In fact our choice of leader and opening strategy was based entirely around one member who was lost during this time period. We lost the rest of them waiting on the 1.74 upgrade, but in hindsight maybe it was BTS?

Hi,

While I initially thought so as well, I'm not so sure about that anymore. The Apolyton MTDG setup discussion changed my mind about this though, and now I think robboo has a point, that the map at least plays a role in this. I was really surprised to learn that a majority of players wanted to have contact and war (or at least the option for war) as soon as possible, and for this wanted to have a small map, game speed not too slow etc.

But this discussion is moot for this game anyway...

Hi,

You are correct, and please see my P.S. a couple of posts above for an apology. The comment that frustrated me so much was "you all can just play on amongst yourselves on Team Epsilon or whatever you want to do. The game is A) Not interesting [...]", which in my view belittles the efforts our team has put into the game. I overreacted, though.

Aloha has the turn and I will attempt to wake up early and play it before work. If I am grumpy tomorrow more so than usual for a Monday...I can blame you guys. If not tomorrow afternoon which will put it at 28 or 30 hours.

1675 to the next team.

This is a turn tracker again, so if there is any more discussions lets move them someplace else.

1680 to Aloha ...

And in the interests of full disclosure, I just want to let you all know that Piffle will most likely be turned over to the AI. As I said before, I really do not have the available time to take over as turn player. I am just waiting on one last person to vote before doing it.

I will play the save tomorrow morning.

Great so now we get to see who gets to rape and pillage an AI.

played and sent.

1680 played.

There will be a slight[1] delay with Piffle playing the save. It appears there are some that would rather not turn it over to the AI. So we are going to need to make some other arrangements. Your patience will be greatly appreciated.

[1]Slight is a relative term and should be construed as a synonym for eternity.
