Turnplay Log

Turn 144 - 680AD

I plan to leave research turned off for another 4 turns. We are accumulating 95 gpt and we have 104 gold saved up, thus far.

*****************************

That barb Axeman did indeed suicide on the IBT. And take a look at our Axeman south of Zapotec. :D

mtdg680adhutsr8.jpg

One more thing for Aloha to be mad at us for, I guess.

*****************************

Our Galley spies an Innovia settling party ...

mtdg680adinnoviavf2.jpg

whilst our Warrior continues taking the long way around Innovia's borders.

*****************************

Balderdash -> No changes.

Hamburger -> No changes. Fire the engineer in another 2 turns, to shave a turn off of the HE build.

Treacle Cottage -> No changes. The Settler is due in 5 turns.

Brilliant -> No changes. We have 102/300 GS points. At +12 per turn we are looking at a GS in 17 turns.

Twaddle -> Give up the wheat so that the Granary can be :whipped: next turn. The city is now starving.

Leonidas -> Give up the corn so that the Granary can be :whipped: next turn. The city's growth is stagnate.

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. The Lighthouse can be whipped in 12 turns when the city grows to size 2.

Turn 145 - 700AD

Research is still turned off. We are accumulating 95 gpt and we have 274 gold saved up, thus far.

*****************************

No barbs!

Well, OK, we still have a barb city sitting in the middle of our empire. Meanwhile, Aloha's Scout wanders off in search of our iron.

*****************************

Our Galley gets a good look at Innovia's new city ...

mtdg700adinnoviahf6.jpg

whilst our Warrior will face death on the IBT ... so much for no barbs ...

mtdg700adbarbarchervf6.jpg

*****************************

Our Caravel spies Loco's borders peeking out from under the fog ...

mtdg700adlocofp7.jpg

If we can get open borders with them ... and they have a canal city ... we just might get that circumnav bonus after all ...

mtdg700adepsiloncanallw9.jpg

Unless, of course, Epsilon decides to use our canal without asking ... which we I did a couple of turns ago to them ... :shifty:

*****************************

Balderdash -> Move a citizen to the mines.

Hamburger -> No changes. Fire the engineer next turn, to shave a turn off of the HE build.

Treacle Cottage -> No changes. The Settler is due in 4 turns.

Brilliant -> Change the build from a Harbor to a University. We have 114/300 GS points. At +12 per turn we are looking at a GS in 16 turns.

Twaddle -> The Granary is :whipped: for 1 pop. Move the other citizen back to the wheat. The city is back to size 1 and growing again.

Leonidas -> The Granary is :whipped: for 1 pop. Move the other citizen back to the corn. The city is back to size 1 and will grow to size 2 next turn.

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. The Lighthouse can be whipped in 11 turns when the city grows to size 2.

No promotions for Stevie Ray? He might survive on the forest.

Turn 146 - 720AD

Research is still turned off. We are accumulating 95 gpt and we have 369 gold saved up, thus far.

*****************************

Aloha's Scout has discovered our source of iron ...

mtdg720adirongd3.jpg

It is located south of Zapotec.

*****************************

Our Warrior, Stevie Ray, survives the encounter with the barb Archer. His health is reduced to just under 50%. But, he gets no healing ... instead he continues to march around Innovia's borders.

*****************************

Our Caravel makes contact with Loco. Shall we send a diplomatic envoy?

Meanwhile, Epsilon's Caravel does indeed sneak through our borders.

mtdg720adepsiloncanalxq9.jpg

At this point, we will probably have to be real lucky to get the circumnav bonus.

*****************************

Balderdash -> No changes.

Hamburger -> Fired the engineer. The city has accumulated 60/300 GE points. The Heroic Epic is due in 2 turns.

Treacle Cottage -> No changes. The Settler is due in 3 turns.

Brilliant -> The University is :whipped: for 3 pop. The city is back to size 3 and will grow next turn. The two scientists are retained. We have 126/300 GS points. At +12 per turn we are looking at a GS in 15 turns.

Twaddle -> The Granary is complete and the city begins a Library.

Leonidas -> The Granary is complete and a Work Boat is started next.

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. The Lighthouse can be whipped in 10 turns when the city grows to size 2.

*****************************

Here is a look at Loco's trading options ...

mtdg720adlocogg3.jpg

As for civics, they are running Hereditary Rule, Slavery, and Organized Religion.

*****************************

Aloha has discovered Paper ... Once they get the save from us they will see that we (and Epsilon) have Education and Printing Press.

Turn 147 - 740AD

We've accumulated 458 gold. Time to turn research back on at 100%. We are showing 10 turns to complete Liberalism at a cost of -48gpt.

*****************************

Our Caravel continues its eastward trek in an effort to circle the globe. Meanwhile, our wounded Warrior, Stevie Ray, continues to march westward in an attempt to circle Innovia's borders.

So, just how close are we?

mtdg740adhowclosepj2.jpg

Has anyone contacted Loco, yet? It doesn't look like we will need open borders from Loco to complete the circumnavigation ... but you never know ...

*****************************

Balderdash -> No changes. The city will grow to size 10 next turn.

Hamburger -> No changes. The Heroic Epic is due next turn.

Treacle Cottage -> No changes. The Settler is due in 2 turns.

Leonidas -> No Changes.

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. The Lighthouse can be whipped in 9 turns when the city grows to size 2.

So, just how close are we?

Oh man, I'm hoping the wind is at our backs. Race well run so far.

Well played. We are darn close to circumnav- is that 3 turns away? Edit: Hello message sent to Loco.

Turn 148 - 760AD

A barb Axeman will suicide onto Chappaquiddick on the IBT ...

mtdg760adbarbaxems0.jpg

*****************************

Our Caravel continues its eastward trek in an effort to circle the globe. All the while, our wounded Warrior continues his westward march.

So, just how close are we?

mtdg760adhowclosess8.jpg

But, how close is Epsilon? They cut through the canal city of Chappaquiddick in 720AD. We also know that their Explorer has crossed Innovia's territory ...

mtdg760adepsiloncloseix1.jpg

Just a guess mind you ... but I believe we will be one turn shy of beating Epsilon to the prize.

Do we want to buy a map from somebody? :mischief:

*****************************

Balderdash -> The Library is complete and the city begins a Barracks. The city has also grown to the size 10 happiness cap.

Hamburger -> The Heroic Epic is complete and the city starts on a Maceman. The city's growth is also turned back on.

Treacle Cottage -> No changes. The Settler is due next turn.

Brilliant -> No changes. We have 150/300 GS points. At +12 per turn we are looking at a GS in 13 turns.

Twaddle -> No changes. The city has now grown to size 2. The Library can be whipped when the city reaches size 6.

Leonidas -> No Changes. The city's borders will expand in 3 turns. Therefore, the Work Boat will need to be :whipped: next turn.

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. The Lighthouse can be whipped in 8 turns when the city grows to size 2.

*****************************

Our Caravel manages a sneak peak at Innovia's war planning ...

mtdg760adinnoviafleetrc0.jpg

And a look at the current power graph ...

mtdg_760AD_Power.jpg

The green line going straight up is Innovia.

do we have any idea of where Innovia's power will be directed?

Turn 149 - 780AD

First up is the trade offer from Loco. Based upon our deal with Epsilon, we have no choice but to decline the offer. We should probably send an official response back ...

MTDG_780AD_LocoOffer.jpg

In other news, Innovia and Aloha have apparently done a trade deal. Aloha gives Innovia Paper in exchange for Philosophy and Horseback Riding. A rather lopsided deal, if you ask me. Aloha gets 1500 beakers in exchange for 800? Somebody's got some dirty pictures of Saladin stashed away ....

*****************************

Epsilon wins the prize ....

mtdg780adepsilonwinsbt9.jpg

And they did it last turn. Which means -- besides that my estimate was wrong -- that they have explored more than we thought they had.

Realize though, that we would have had it in two turns. Two turns! The difference? We lost Leonidas to that barb Axeman and had to rebuild the city. If it wasn't for that one single barb, we would have circled the globe first.

Do we still want to trade maps with Epsilon?

*****************************

Balderdash -> No changes. The Barracks is due next turn.

Hamburger -> No changes. The Maceman will be ready next turn. He will be sent to take out Zapotec. Do we keep the city or raze it?

Treacle Cottage -> The Settler is complete and the city resumes the long ago started Barracks. Also move a citizen from a mine to shave a turn off growth.

Brilliant -> No changes. We have 162/300 GS points. At +12 per turn we are looking at a GS in 12 turns.

Twaddle -> No changes. This city is size 2, currently. The flood plains are all being cottaged while the city builds a Library. But, would workshops have been better and make this a production city?

Leonidas -> The borders will pop in 2 turns. The Work Boat is :whipped: for 1 pop.

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. The Lighthouse can be whipped in 7 turns when the city grows to size 2.

*****************************

Innovia is now connected to the trading network. We can see that they have marble connected up. But, no horses or iron.

mtdg780adresourceszh4.jpg

We would actually see a trade route benefit from open borders at this point. My guess is they will decline.

I think that now the circum nav bonus has been gotten, that a map trade would be in both of our interest. Maybe we could see if a trade with one of the other teams is available before we share our map with our partner. that way the other teams wouldn't get Epsilons map for free.

Re: MTDG

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Killercane,

Sorry for our late response, but with Theoden on holiday, our foreign department is having some problems (basically it has stopped existing ).

First, about the resource trade, we've got silk to spare, so we could trade for that. However, fish for silk wouldn't be a very fair deal in our opinion. We value happiness over health. But if you could throw a bit more, then I'm pretty sure we could agree on it. (Dutchfire offered a health for health resource deal and I countered with happy for health, silk for fish).

Second, is your team interested in doing some sort of technology trade? We would be very interested in Printing Press. I believe that we're up Guilds, Feudalism (?) and Horsebackriding on you. Of course, this tech deal would include that we won't trade printing press with any other team, and you won't trade our techs to any other team.

Third, about the long term, our fear mostly lies with Epsilon. They've just closed borders with us, and if they attempt to attack Loco, they'll get very close to our lands. Therefor we're very happy to cooperate with you by making trades so we'll both stand stronger against Epsilon. A total military alliance is an option, but we'd like to think that option through longer because it's a very big move to make.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Dutchfire

We should probably tell Epsilon about Loco's offer, and see if getting Feudie from them would be better to hide our agreement. Guilds would be nice and maybe we can get open borders with Innovia now that circumnav is gone. What do we want on this front? We should probably ask Epsilon what they think.

Edit: Wrong thread. Woops. Tubby's idea sounds good for maps. OB and maps with Innovia? Or do we want maps from Loco too?

(Dutchfire offered a health for health resource deal and I countered with happy for health, silk for fish).
I don't blame them for turning the deal down. Our counter offer is right up there with Aloha's 15gpt for Dye proposal.

We have no need for a health resource ATM. However, I think we should do the deal. If nothing else, it might thaw the relationship with these guys. Maybe throw in an open borders clause while we are at it? I'd love to get those trade routes on-line ...

I think that is a good idea.

Edit: Wrong thread. Woops.
You can probably just PM a mod to have them move the post to the correct thread. And if you do, might as well have them move this post, as well ...

Loco have realised that the deal is in their favour (from the e-mail with the save):

Piffle,

I have just realized that the trade we previously proposed to you has a discrepancy of about 70 beakers in our favor. If this is giving you a feeling of hesitation, Loco would be happy to make up that beaker amount in gold. I am also sending this via e-mail, as I feel it is a more reliable method of communication than PM's.

Jeejeep
Executive Leader
Team Loco

We will have to inform Epsilon at some point, being upfront about this will help them believe we mean the long term deal.
