Turnplay Log

However, if/when Epsilon counterstrikes, we won't see them coming. They will almost certainly hit from two, if not three directions, and with their transports having more moves than we have ships in the water, we won't have an early warning of where they will hit.

That leads to a sobering thought: which would lead to a quicker Epsilon victory?

1) We nuke Aloha
2) We nuke Epsilon

The fastest win for Epsilon would be if we nuked both Innovia (I know they still hold Bethel, Alaska as well as the city near where we are pillaging) and Aloha's largest cities. This will place Epsilon above the threshold for a unilateral UN Presidency vote. The problem being, waiting for that vote option to come around. In my experience, limited as it is, the Presidency vote isn't offered until several (3? 4?) minor votes have already happened. There will be a maximum of one vote every other turn, but it could be more like 4 turns per vote. So we'd be looking at somewhere around 6 to 16 turns after Epsilon builds the UN until game completion.

If we nuke Epsilon, we it's possible that they try to retaliate with an overt military counterstrike. But that will certainly take longer to game completion.

I think I'm inclined towards the following order:
1. Blackmail Epsilon to see what we can get. We can even specify which cities we're holding hostage to let them know what we know (Mighty Bulwark, Epsilon Eridani, Immortal Keep, [oil city whose name escapes me at the moment]).
2. Nuke Innovia's city that we're pillaging, then razing it.
3. Nuke Aloha once Epsilon builds the UN

you know, there's another thing that just occurred to me: we could offer Epsilon to nuke Aloha, speeding Epsilon's conquest of them. We could offer to do this in exchange for tech parity - or something along those lines.

Obviously, we need to decide this within the next two turns!

Since it appears they'll win either way I'm inclined to just nuke them to say that we did and ask for pictures of the fallout, deserts etc.

Sorry I haven't been around lately ...

A question ... If we were to nuke Epsilon's largest cities on the turn that they built the UN, would it be possible for us (or someone else) to take control of it? I don't really care who, but it would be nice (and ironic) to vote someone else the victory.

I think that would be grand plan. We nuke and defend while someone else goes in the backdoor and scoops the UN! I'm in!

I can't check the save to be sure, but I think that Epsilon has a crushing majority of the population right now. They have not only their core cities, but the cities of New Epsilon are already mature. I think we'd be looking at nuking about 15 cities, and some of them we'd have to nuke a couple of times.

So in that scenario we're waiting for Epsilon to build the UN, then we nuke. :hmm: I guess it's not as crazy as it sounds, when I think about it!

But we need to decide this in the next two turns

Ok, personally I would like to nuke Epsilon. Their vengance would probably be quick but people seem to want this game to be over and one last act of defiance against the perdicted victor cant be that bad. Basically hit them with most the nukes we make and hold one or two to try and hit their main army if we get the chance.

Well in the review of this game, I think many will point to our cooperation with Epsilon as a contributing factor in their victory; however the truth of the matter is we were forced into that position.

I think we should nuke Aloha AFTER the initial barrage of Epsilon, just to say we did.

Robboo needs explicit orders but he is so distrusting that he wont follow them as laid out for him and it becomes a big To Do. I mean, 1) why were so many of his ships at risk ad not in their harbor; and 2) how hard is it to follow a plan of we give you units, cash, etc. and we will nuke them?

1750 T-1

t-4: (Manhattan in 3, Rockets in 3)
t-3: (Manhattan in 2, Rockets in 2)
t-2: Revolt into US, Invasion force poised outside of Brilliant! (Manhattan in 1, Rockets in 1)
t-1: Come out of revolt, move workers onto prechopped forests
t0: Manhattan completes, Rocketry arrives, we set all cities to build nukes, and workers finish-chop one forest per city. Cash rush ICBMs in those cities.
T1: Nuke Mighty Bulwark, Argyle's Watch, Sanctuary West, Uranium sources (one in Old Epsilon, one in New Epsilon [old locopotamia], and other targets to be determined.

Events of Note:
Pillage two mines in Saggiouns territory

Works have been positioned on pre-chopped forests

Eplison's spy is in same position, we cannot tell if it has entered boarders.

Accepted Aloha's request for Communism, Fission and Democracy

We are out of anarchy and into Universal Suffrage :)

We will have 4114 gold for rushing next turn.

Things we need to decide / discuss
Should we use Great Scientist and Great Engineer to start a golden age next turn (I vote yes).

It seems we want to nuke Eplison next turn and we need a target list.
-1 Uranium
-1 Oil
-Mighty Bulwark
-Eplison Eridani
-Eternal Eye
-any Aloha cities? :mischief:

It was mentioned somewhere else, but Epsilon cant build SDI w/o Rocketry and the next tech and Manhatten having been built.

Golden Age sounds good.

I think we need to invest hammers into the nukes first and then buy them= more nukes. We will need a heck of a lot of them. I would like to be around when we nuke them so pm me when you plan to play the turn; if you cant no worries though!

Please post plenty of nuke screenshots

 :nuke:

And maybe we should wait the extra turn. I mean, more nukes = more fun. It's not like we're timing our plan with another team anymore

OK, the screenshots finally turned up:

Epsilon's Oil:

Epsilon's Uranium (the other sources won't be accessible to them until the 4th cultural expansion, or new settlements)

What happened to all our gold? We were supposed to have 5K but I see we only have 4 nukes rushed. Does Epsilon break our rail line every turn up the coast towards their territory? Where are the rails from the capital->that way it looks like only roads (we may not have had enough workers to do the rails + forest chops).

OK, a little update here.

It's been really difficult with Twistlok and me playing over the phone - frequent interruptions, me losing my notes [:gripe:], coordinating phone time, you get the idea. Plus, he gets an error message every time he tries to take a screenshot: 'Screenshot Failed'. Weird.

We did indeed rush 4 nukes last turn (1755). That's why our gold went from just over 4k to just under 400 during the turn. Starting the GA gave us ~600 gpt, and so we were able to rush another nuke this turn (1760).

We continued on several nukes, only chopping where we're about to rush. We won't be able to rush next turn, but we should be able to get two on the following turn.

The rail line to Brilliant is superfluous. We don't have a military force that can attack Epsilon, as we had gifted it all to Aloha. :wallbash: We do have about 6 cavalry and 3 or 4 infantry near Brilliant, but I think it's a good idea to keep them near home in case Epsilon preemptively attacks.

See the Epsilon thread for my latest proposed letter. I don't think there's much harm done to them by gifting us the techs at this point, so perhaps they'll go for it :mischief:

Why are nukes costing so much? 800 rather than the expected 500 or less?

Also, 4 nukes doesnt do squat vs. Epsilon; we would need 8 to even pave a path to go somewhere. I think our only choice is to nuke those idiots in Aloha who have given Epsilon the victory.
