For that matter, is this going to be NOW generally?
Well....with six females and only two males in the world what do you think? :D

It wouldn't be Always War but it will surely be Always Drama.

Almost said by Indiana Jones said:
Estrogen.

Why did it have to be estrogen?

I think we have to deal with each women one at a time. And they will gang up on us, no matter what we do or how we try to make them happy. (Am I reading too much Real Life into this game?)

I would more look along the lines of Tokugawa, Lincoln or Osman.

As for the rival. I like the idea of having to kill him after our lover or ex-Wive. But I have no Idea for a fitting madness.
Well depends on our UU, but I like the last premise as long as we dont have a spearman replacement as UU.

I like Tokugawa for "must not build any units past our UU." Osman would work for that, too.

For the rival, might I suggest that, when the time comes to kill him, you must take him on as your sole focus. Peace must be made with any other civ with whom you have a "side war" going, and once you DOW him, you may not make peace with him until he is utterly destroyed.

For that matter, is this going to be NOW generally?

Aabraxan, I like your suggestion. I'll take it a bit further: Once we're at war with him, we have to exterminate him (gee, now I sound like a Dalek!).

Team, how does this sound? If we're happy with this plan, I'll go ahead and start rolling some starts.

Would we suspend the wars with our Lover and Ex while this is going on?

If we gotta kill him with gusto, that's fine. But this does set up some rules conflict.

I must say I am not yet convinced about this whole rival thing. The suggested rule contradicts several other rules, and we still lack a convincing madness, unless I missed something.

So I would only like to go forward with this, when you guys really think he adds something to the game.

As for the nation, I don't think only being allowed to build CAV is not really a restriction, unless the game is much harder than I believe right now. Building only AA units, Pikes and Samurais sounds just fine.

Have we agreed on a Difficulty yet?

I'm interested in playing but only have Vanilla at the moment. Would that be a problem with anyone?

Emperor is fine.

I'm so used to conquests, I would really struggle with all the missing stuff in vanilla.

Scratch my previous post. I found out I could download the complete version of Civ3 online for a surprisingly low amount at GameStop.

As for the difficulty Emperor will be a challenge for me, but since I won't be playing the entire game by myself I think I can overcome any challenges I face.

Emperor is okay. That means we are not restricted on our units, correct?

I agree. While we would gain the ability to rush Great Wonders with our MGLs what we would lose is just too great.

We can help you with the difficulty level. All you have to do is play your best for ten turns at a time (or fewer if needed). :D Knowing that people will be looking at what you do helps focus your attention. It did wonders for my game.

Awesome. I'm even more confident now. :)

I did a test game on the full version yesterday and I see why moving back to vanilla would be difficult. I have no problem playing with the full version now.

#1 looks decent after moving one SE. I want to settler on the river.
#2 looks decent since we can irrigate the wheat.
#3 sucks - plenty of food, but I don't want to deal with the constant disease hit.
#4 looks like it may be one from the coast.
#5 has to many crap tiles. Forget it.
#6 needs to move. One SE and settle on the jungle. Then I could make a better decision.

I don't see a worker / settler factory in the bunch. :(

Interesting idea, as I was in the process of putting together something similar as a Mod. Are you using a Europe and North Africa Map? And for the Rival, I would have picked Germany, good old Bismarck is definitely the anti-ladies man.

#1. I like the cow and the river. Agree with LK on repositioning the settler.
#2. I think this is better than 1 because you have more grassland and don't have to move the settler to another position.
#3. No. Production will not be very good within the capitol in the mid to late game when it could really count.
#4. This is another good one. I'd move worker to wheat tile to see if it's a coast or just a lake then move the settler if it's a coast.
#5. 50/50 on this one. The forest could help us produce units and buildings early on, but the downside is too much work in the early game could hinder growth.
#6. Not as good as the others. I think we can skip this one.

I think 2, 4, and 1 will be our best bet. 2 if we don't want to have to move the settler.
