Here are two suggestions that I think would be cool in G&K:
1. Changing the fortifications- Instead of still having the Star fort when you get up to the great war ear for example the fortifications should change to trenches and so on.
2. They should expand both the Arctic and Antarctica so that it can be explored. You could set up research stations and could even race other civ's to be the first to the poles.

I'd also like it if they changed the appearance of each unit based on its civilization; for example, have a unique swordsman for European, African, Middle Eastern, Asian, and Native American.

I like the idea of a race to the poles, especially if you got some sort of bonus for being the first one there (perhaps cultural to reflect the nationalism the real race provoked). It would be cool if they also brought back in a bonus for being the first to circumnavigate the globe.

They should also put back in the diplomacy visual that was in Civ III and Civ IV; the one where the leaders were in a circle and you could see the relations between everybody.

Yes, this would be good - I'd like to see the Motte & Bailey graphic used for earlier period citadels, since it exists and can be imported. The Napoleonic fortress just seems odd at most game stages.

That's a fun idea. Not sure how you'd go about working it in a Civ V context though.

I like the idea of forts changing design based on the times. I feel each era should have its own particular fort. I am not sure about the Artic and Antartic expeditions. Perhaps science bonuses for discovering the north and south poles would be interesting. Research centers might be interesting to start there, but a decent purpose to add depth to the game would have to be thought up. There has to be a real reason for wanting to concentrate time and resources to those icy regions.

Also, I would like to see some unit diversity. German infantry for example should look like German infantry, not like doughboys. They don't have to do this with every unit, but some more important ones would be nice.

They should re add the unit casualty tracker as well. So, you can tell how many units you lost and how many you killed.
