UNNES1: The Final Frontier

Oops my bad. It will be changed. But the question stands

Oh, for your second question, the first number is how much crew can fit. (crew space). Second number is the minimum needed to operate it.

Ahh. That makes much more sense. Thank you.

Backstory:
Krento Plantagenet was a soldier during the Earth-Mars wars. With good evidence (by the standards of his day), he believed himself to be a descendant of Henry IV, and thus of generations of English kings.

One of the most extremist reactionaries of his day, he believed in the right of the nobility of ancient Europe (he hadn't thought about the rest of Earth, let alone the colonies) to rule their rightful lands.

Krento was not stupid- he knew that they would never get England back after the Tutor "usurpers" (for one who based his claims so much on the past, he didn't know much of it). He also knew that if his crew ever found out his ambitions they would laugh him off. So he went for what he could get by the end of his life- a planet of his own, somewhere in the distant solar system...

Information about other ships added

More stuff added, you may still freely change your ship until update 0

Your backstory *could* explain how you have that much money and such a ship. It doesn't need to be brand new bought one. Good backstories which somehow tell that and also explain why the PC is of the class (s)he/it is might gain a small reward.

Captain Jones had fought in the war, on the Rebel side, through much of the beginning of it. Filled with the rebel spirit of the time, he had not stopped to think of the concequense the war might bring. Two years in, he found out.

After the rebels had hit a string of defeats, the Earth forces were able to push deep into rebel held territory. On a small mining asteroid in "The Belt", as the revolutionaries called it, was the outpost of Candleton. This is where Jones lived with his family, and where he was stationed the day the Earth Coalition came upon them. He went up to fight, commanding his Ant with full crew, he left Candleton to engage the enemy corvettes, along with the rest of the rebels around the outpost.

He had been in combat before, but this time it was personal. The fate of everyone he knew rested in these few defender's hands, a handful of rebel ships going against a fleet of Coalition space craft. The odds were completely against them, yet they still went up to meet their enemy. Even though he was sure they would die, he was able to keep his crew calm and inspire them to face the threat, and not turn tail and run. All that mattered was that Candleton could be saved.

During the battle, the coalition forces showed their ruthless brutality. They destroyed ships, then fired upon the escape pods that ejected from the dead hulks, making sure no one would survive. Jones and his crew continued to fight the Earth navy, making full use of all his tactical skills, but in the end it wasn't enough. They took many hits, their engines were running on half power, and they were out of missiles. The rest of the rebels had either turned tail and ran, or had been destroyed. While staring out the viewport towards Candleton, he was shocked to see the asteroid completely and utterly destroyed. The Coalition fired upon the rock, blowing it to pieces, killing everyone on board. Jones knew he was defeated, and ordered his men to retreat. They fled for Troy. That was the last command he had as a member of the rebellion. When they reached Troy, he disembarked, handed command over to his first mate, and wished them luck. His fighting days were over.

Now, in the time since the war, Jones has been able to buy himself an old used Ant and some modifications for it. He has hired a crew, though not very experienced, they show potential. He no longer plans to fight, but instead has plans to start his own shipping business. Though he wants to, he knows he can never put Candleton behind him, so he intends to keep himself as busy as possible until the day he dies, so he wont have to think about it.

Initial Post updated. Also a rough price guide would be nice, as I have 400 credits left and I think I can buy some cargo, but I really have no idea.

Trevor Yakink had an intresting life growing up. He lived ina poor house with all his brothers, sister, cousins, aunts and uncles. And they were all ruled by he Uncle Pitor. But with 30 odd kids growing up together their was bound to be some competition. From the Yakink family, several markable, if not famous character arose, one of which was Trevor.

From age five it was a competition to gain Pitor's favour. Those he liked would get extra rewards and larger shares of the food. Those he didn't like got the scraps. While the girls were all married off, the boys were all in it for the same thing, a share of the family fortune.

Living in the slums of a large city on Mars, food was hardly scarce and the family had quite a decent fortune, but the neighbourhood was cutthroat, much like the frontier today. Not everyone made it, but those that did tended to come out bigger, stronger, smarter and richer.

Trevor's first introduction was when he was six, watching two older brothers, nine and ten go at it with knives. When it was all over one of them lay dead on the floor. He was then cursed and threatened not to tell, for it was okay to bring a brother down, but not to get caught doing it.

At age eight after nearly getting thrown out a window Trevor turned to machines. He studied all subjects in school, but math was his focus. Using his primitive skills Trevor managed to rig a catapult to fire, if someone tried to force his way into Trevor's room. It was a blinding success. At age nine, Treavor had his first kill, a jealous younger cousin sneaking into his room. A fist sized rock caught him in the face. He was unceremoniously dumped onto the alley by a disapproving Uncle Pitor, who congradulated Treavor on his cleverness. Thus he earned a spot in Uncle Pitors favour.

As life went on, Trevors prominant position changed his life in two ways. First, he was hardened. Many a time jealousy acted against him, causing cousins and brother to attack him. But Trevor's newfound talent for engineering protected him, armour or weapons.

THe second thing that happened is Trevor got his Uncle to get him a spot in High school. Trevor was facinated in Robotics and physics, both optional courses. He used this knowladge to wrangle past the final few obstacles in his path to the top of the Yakink heap. At this point only dear old Uncle Pitor's eldest son, Larin, held more favour.

The problem solved it's self when Larin tried to break into Trevor's room with band of street thugs. But treavor expected this, as Larin saw Treavor as a threat, sucking inheirtiance up if nothing else. Not a heavy sleeper, travor and his rooms heavy defences made mincemeat of the attackers.

When Pitor finally died, their was but four surviving males in the Yakink family and sixteen females, with Treavor top of the heap. Taking the lion's share of the inheiritance, he bought himself a merchant ship and began plying his trade, paticularly in the fronteer so like his old home. And thats where he finds himself today, on Enceladus.

Hehe. Got the idea from the Urga Dynasty from David Eddings The Mallorian. Great books, but read the Belgarid series first.

Michaela Pauling was a woman of few words. Few knew her, and fewer still would call her a friend. From time to time, she would arrive in fringe stations, sell her goods, and leave.

Life was good.

Few knew of what things in her past had driven her into such reclusion. Fewer still knew why her right arm, parts of her brainstem and several internal organs were entirely mechanical.

Perhaps she preferred it that way. If someone had cared to guess, they may have assumed that she was shy- antisocial perhaps, neutered of emotion. Maybe it was an attempt to appear mysterious, for some unknown reason.

But no one ever asked, and Michaela never told.

She simply sold her goods, stocked up on minimal supplies, and returned into space, disappearing entirely from the outside world.

As if she had never existed at all.
