Unregistered version of windows 7

Hi

Im thinking about buying a computer, and it seems great but its running a unregistered version of windows 7. Now i can live with it being semi-legal, but what kind of downsides are there to this? As soon as i log on the net will the Microsoft goons be around to break my knees?

or how expensive is it to get a registered version?
