Urdnot Scott's Civilisations

Hype train goes choo choo.

About the icons, two things to say: the Fatimid one is far too complicated and will likely be rendered as a horrid mess in game, and I don't really think that icon is the best option for Granada. I mean, at least not pre-Reconquista Granada, since it was used only after that. They had a pretty nice Coat of Arms you could surely work with, and would be more representative of the time period.

So the first release is definitely this week. I don't mean that in my usual 'Wishful thinking' kind of way, I mean that in the 'It is literally 100% coded and all the art is done, I'm just waiting until it isn't 3am to release it' kind of way.

Its not Granada, I'm still waiting on a few bits and bobs for that so I figured while I'm waiting I'd make myself useful and release something else to prove I'm not totally incompetent. So pepper your anguses people, I'm about to finally contribute something that isn't theoretical.

Sn33k P33k:

Who said it was a civ? Lets turn down those hype boosters a little bit for now!

The Dubai Mall?

no i didn't find that out with reverse google image search why would you even say such a thing :shifty:

I'm impressed that that works, good job google.

Al Zubarah

Al Zaburah is an enormous complex of forts, markets and harbours constructed on the northern tip of Qatar. Founded by Kuwaiti merchants sometime in the 18th century and became an important hub of trade in the Persian gulf before the discovery of oil in the early 20th century. Almost perfectly preserved to this day, Al Zabarah offers us an unparalleled glance at pre-20th century life in the Gulf states - a world based around pearls and fish rather than oil and gold. In game, Al Zabarah grants bonus :c5gold: gold on all sea resources, and an additional 2 :c5gold: gold and :c5culture: culture on sources of pearls.

Qal'at al-Bahrain
The Qal'at al-Bahrain is an ancient city in northern Bahrain thought to have been the centre of the Dilmun civilisation, which dominated Eastern Arabia and the Persian gulf between the 4th Millenium BC and 800 BC. The site itself is a sprawling complex of temples, walls and 'tells', ancient mounds which indicate a lasting human presence in a region. Dilmun itself was wealthy and allegedly very beautiful - many scholars have posited that the Garden of Eden myths have their origin in tales about Dilmun, spread by Sumerian merchants. In game, the Qal'at grants a free :c5greatperson: great merchant and an additional 1 :c5food: food and :c5gold: gold from oases.

Sheikh Zayed Mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the largest mosque in the UAE and serves as the final resting place for the nations founder and hero, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who steered the nation from a confederation of loosely organised tribes into an inordinately wealthy regional power in just 30 years. The mosque embodies the piety maintained by the small nation even during their rapid thrust into modernity and wealth. The Mosque features 30 acres of prayer space, enormous gardens, architectural styles from across the Muslim world, and even an enormous library featuring works of science, literature, mathematics and faith, among others. In game, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque grants additional :c5faith: faith for every tradition policy enacted, and :c5culture: culture for every piety policy.

Dubai Mall
Dubai is the city of giants - it takes patience, genius and an incredible amount of resources to attempt to be the 'biggest' of anything in this megacity. Yet, despite the city being home to malls housing everything from indoor snow-parks to rollercoasters, Dubai Mall attempted to be the biggest. Not just in Dubai, but in the world. The result: an enormous one million square meter behemoth home to over a thousand retailers, an olympic ice rink and an acquarium. Opened in 2008, Dubai Mall has become one of the worlds greatest tourist attractions; in 2012 it pulled in 62 million tourists, almost 10 million more than the entire state of new york and over twice as many as Niagra falls! It seems that somebody will sell you just about anything in Dubai, so in game, Dubai mall makes the regular old merchant specialist a serious 'jack of all trades', by granting them +1 of just about every yield - :c5science: science, :c5production: production, :c5food: food, :c5gold: gold and :tourism: tourism!

Bahla Fort

Bahla fort is the largest and most spectacular of a series of forts erected in the Omani interior following the growth of the Khawarajj movement in this small mountainous region. Standing upright and rigid in the face of centuries of aggression by Caliphs, hungry to reassert their doctrinal and political hegemony over Oman, The fort at Bahla is a testimony to the iron will of the Omani people at their most tenacious. The khawarajj were a doctrine of Islam that rejected the authority of the caliph in favour of regional ibadis, after being seriously let down by their chosen caliph, Ali. To this day, Oman is the only muslim majority nation to be neither Shia nor Sunni, but Ibadi - a descendant of the original Khawarajj movement. In game, this steadfast resolution is represented by granting a free castle, several techs early, but more importantly it causes all :c5strength: defensive buildings in the empire to yield +1 :c5faith: faith and grants the drill I promotion to new units.

Thanks man! Means a lot coming from such a well-established modder, I can only dream that this is the start of a modding portfolio even a fraction as impressive as yours!

I might actually download these! Looks great!

(And original as well. Tremendous work.)

Well I don't download any wonder packs(mainly since I think there are quite enough of those in the game) but those ones seem very, very unique and quite intriguing, so I might as well have them in my games...

yet like a solid 75% of it doesn't work because I'm a goof
