As I understand it, I think that once you discover Paper, it shows up on the build options... But the games I've been playing lately, paper isn't in the cards. So I'm not positive.

I'm finding I like the whole losing contact with civs aspect of this speeds the game up a lot and makes the game much more enjoyable. I purposley lose contact with civs I have no use for like Aztec, Japan, and Mali just so they stop bugging me every few turns for a free tech or some other stupid demand.

The southwest ("TL"?) corner of the French "core area" is 57,47. I think that means neither Burdigala nor Marseilles can count for the Roman UHV. I would have expected either an irregularly-shaped region, or for the corner to be 53,46 even if it allows double-counting a city at 53,46 in the Roman UHV.

Personally I haven't had any motivation to build embassies. In the games I've played, only my neighbors are important.

fixed, thanks

Embassies and contact loss are great.

Thank God people aren´t complaining about a new feature! It´s a miracle! Rhye, we must celebrate! :D

I for one am disgusted with the new system. I don't think it brings any benefits at all to the mod. I fondly remember the ability to repeatedly refuse the Mongolians' pointless demands for tech or gold. And darned if I don't have better uses for my hammers than more buildings! I could be producing Culture instead! But most of all I miss the long load times. How am I supposed to go to the bathroom or make tea every single turn?

Personally I am disgusted with embassies and demand that they be removed, or at least toned down to a more manageable level. Oh, and include Poland.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poland FTW

Rhye,
I was reading through your description of embassies in the readme and thought that it could use some editing. Here is the current version and how I would rephrase it.

Current Version said:
Are you tired of ringing Montezuma’s mobile phone, any time you wish?
Situations like these will no longer happen, as periodically your contacts with the other leaders will decay, if they are not close enough to your borders. You can prevent this building other civs’ embassies in one of your cities (your embassy will be automatically placed in one of theirs), or discovering electricity. Embassies are available with civil service and paper, and you must not be at war with the other civilizations in order to build them. Each city can host maximum 5 embassies.

You can prevent this by either building other civs’ embassies in your cities (your embassy will then be automatically placed in one of theirs) or discovering electricity. Embassies are available with civil service and paper, but keep in mind that you may not found an embassy with any civ you are currently at war with. In addition, each city can only host a maximum of 5 embassies.

I love the idea of losing contact, personally. Genghis will finally get off my case.:)

Seeing as there's a max of five embassies per city, a nice idea comes to mind, though I don't know how well the AI would deal with it... The idea is simply that embassies in your capital give a bigger diplo bonus than ones in other cities. This would force you to pick your friends. But the whole thing is probably not worth the coding time, not to mention testing.
