Varietas Delectat for Rhye's and Fall

Great Mod! Two questions though:
1. Is this mod still in progress, or is there no more development going into it?
2. Is it possible if you could include the modmod which changes the stonehenge into the sphinx? Please! :D

But other then that great job, and I really hope you continue to work with this, and maybe expand into new areas :goodjob:

When new VD comes out, I usually plunge it sooner or later.

To the previous posters: did you went though all the messy stages correctly? Does anyone else have that problem?

Ya I have a few bugs/errors to report to you, but first what do you mean by "plunge", and will you add the sphinx modmod into your next update?

Anyways, onto the bugs:
1. The buildings in Babylon has textures from all sorts of cultures!
2. The Maceman (which should be called "heavy" swordsman) has the unit card of an archer.
3. For the Persians, if I were you I would change the Immortal unit card to the picture of the immortal (like in normal RFC) instead of having a chariot picture represent the immortal, because then it get confusing with regular chariots.
4. Same with the Riflemen, they have the unit card of a musketman

I was just about to report that too. Here's a screenshot if you will (attached to post). The situation is the same for the Native civilization.

Also, the game crashes from loading a game I got far in. When the game finishes loading, the game crashes. I'm sure that it has something to do with this modmod. What should I do?

The same happens to me all the time, sometimes the game even crashes when I am saving and I do not have to tell anyone that is annoying... If you post your save I guarantee someone will be able to open it up and play it. You can try loading a save from a couple of turns prior and playing past the save you cannot load? I would also like to see if anyone has advice for this. It could just be that the combination of RFC and Varietas Delectat becomes too memory intensive in the later parts of the game, colonization and onwards.

This is so frustrating, although I'm not going to blame Lone Wolf for it...

I did try to follow the instructions for installing this modmod, but it didn't work.

I use jZip, and when I tried extracting the files to assets like the first step told me to do, I ran into a bunch of errors...

Also, when I tried to change the .ini file (went a step ahead) because I can USUALLY change the configuration files, it told me that I couldn't save the change because it was in the wrong directory somehow.

Can anyone help me on this...and take into account that I'm definitely not an expert at code or editing files, and especially not creating new content. (Even though I wish that I was, because I know a lot about history)

Unfortunately, I don't have my computer which can run Civ with me now, so I can't test it all. Does everyone have that problem?

It could just be the jZip programs fault. I've had problems like this with other mods...but I honestly don't know if it's jZip's fault or not.

But currently I think the above issues are more pressing as they are probably some of the biggest bugs in this modmod. When do you think you'll be able to get your computer that supports civ? Because there is a long list of bugs and errors which really need to be fixed up. Keep up the good work :goodjob:

I'm wondering why I can't even edit the .ini file. That makes no sense to me since it's not read-only...

Nevermind. I finally figured out why the .ini file wasn't allowing me to edit it...it's some stupid thing with Vista. I hate Vista.

I still can't figure out why the mod won't download to assets, but I'm assuming it's my zip program that's being a jerk.

If you play Rise of Mankind, does that happen to you too? Because that mod adds a lot of new stuff to the game that, I'll assume by the time you reach the Future Era, you'll have the same problem as I do.

I have 3 gigabytes of RAM, and if it can handle that, then why not RFC + VD?

For your "extraction" problem, i got three solution:
-you put the zip file on asset and then you "extract here".
-You dezip the file in your download file and then, you put all the Vd files in assets
-you try winrar(even if i had the same problem with it).

And for the second problem, you have to right click on your files, click properties, security, users, modify and give all the autorizations, then you will be able to change the file!

PS: i had exactly the same problems than you and now the mod works perfectly!

I have tried playing Rise of Mankind, and I never crashed once. If I play without VD in RFC I can make it maybe to the 1500's or 1600's without crashing. With VD it can happen in the 1000's. I am inclined to believe it is due to having many civ contacts than it is to naturally progressing in the game.

Your computer should be very hold to not support beyond the sword with VD. what's your configuration?

I figured out my problem but I have a similar issue to Zagoroth. My computer is not old, though. It's a Vista with Inter Core 2 Quad Processor, 720 GB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT (kinda old but not bad) and 3 GB of RAM (still not great but not bad)

I turned off modular loading, and the game loaded OK, without any crashes, sans the ethnic diversity that increases the liveliness of the game.

The game never crashed on me whilst playing it, only when I try to load the game. Playing the stand-alone Varietas Delectat mod, I never have the crashing problem...

I've read the main VD thread, apparently, some people have problems with loading saves with VD for vanilla, too. I think that the city/improvement graphics is most likely the reason for it, just because the Lsystems are so messy structured and it's easy to make a mistake there.

Yeah, it's the citystyles. The One of the FfH modmodders had noticed that

rarely graphics from Freyas Citystyle Mod cause a CTD while loading a savegame. So far only happened when playing Amurites. In this case just install the FFH Base graphics module. Won't break saves.

So citystyles are prone to CTD'ing indeed.

5. In the civiopedia, under civilizations, there are 2 Babylonian Empires, one has all the info the other one is blank

So can you now fix these bugs, because other then these errors the modmod is amazing (really adds flavor to the game). Not to mention I think there might be other errors as well, so you should definitely try to fix these minor errors soon (especially the Babylon one)

I love this modmod. I just got it working. The only issues I've found so far are Babylonians have no distinct building/city style and that the game has the chance of CTDing later on in the game, especially if the player used WorldBuilder earlier on in the game.

Other than that, this modmod is GREAT. Thanks Lonewolf.
