Version 2.6 discussion

Just wondering if this happend to anyone else?

All of your Combined Mods ie; AIAutoPlay, Better BtS AI, alot of BUG and Rev mod stuff, total of 11 different ones put their Config Settings (in My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/__ folder) and its interfering with normal BtS games, this happend awhile back with some of your mapscripts, but that now i think has been resolved, i havent checked those yet. I already erased all my Logs and cache stuff/Custom Assets.
I just got done re-installing all if Civ4 again, because this happened with some others mods before and were also interfering with my python files.

Great work, just started playing RoM 2.6

is the extra civ addon pack compatible with RoM 2.6 ??

if not is there a compatible version foreseen in the near future.

Sounds like your main BtS files got corrupted, mods aren't supposed to alter default files.

I just re-installed BtS last week, and the only mod i have played or put in the MOD Folder besides mine is RoM!! And the files were not there before i played RoM?? Plus in my mod i have no dll or anything like that in it.

hey guys,

i have downloaded the rise of mankind megapack 2.6 and i copied it to the beyond the sword/mods directory, but if i start bts and select the mod, it loads up, but i dont see any menus :/ anyone help ? i dont want to reinstall whole civ4, because we had some problems in the multiplayer ...

I was playing 2.6 (latest patch downloaded from the Current Version thread) single player today. First I got the black screen/CTD. I realized I hadn't cleared my cache before playing and did that. Played for a while more and got the spinning world of death crash. On closing the game (you can use the spinning world as a cursor), I got the error: The instructions at "0x7c9109f9" referenced memory at "0x00001235". The memory could not be "read". I have gotten this error before at closing the game after the spinning world crash. I was playing with the defaults as downloaded. I think that has the Rev Mod off? I forgot to check.

I guess its 2.5 for a while yet.

Rise of Mankind 2.6Full Must be put in BtS/Mods Folder as "Rise of Mankind". If you put it in as "Rise of Mankind2.6" or any variation you will have Problems. If you have an earlier Version like 2.52 in the Mod folder as "Rise of Mankind" you will need to rename or remove it.

Do Not turn on RevDCM, BarbCIV, Tech Diffusion, or Start as Minor Civ, (any RevDCM component). If you start without these Mod options it should run just fine.

BUT if you add them in expect to encounter problems. BarbCIV in particular.

You'll just have to play straight RoM till the REVDCM components get caught up/fixed.

JosEPh :)

That was my point along time ago if there are problems with them, why are they there, just take them out of the game?? Even if they are nice to have, let people do it on there own. Besides the extra stuff above the bottom, near the mini map (to the left) is just too (no offense) ugly. Just my opinion. Ever since the dll stuff was added.:mischief: (after 2.2)

ya didn;t notice that they're on by default but i was able to reload and it made it past that point so just gonna set autosave for 2 turns and hope it doesn't bug out too often and next game i'll turn off...lol the next version prolly be out b4 this one is done anyways

I have been having the same problem. None of the menus come up and the "Options" button doesnt work. I really hope someone can give me some help because I was able to play a little bit of this game before the lack of menus got too much for me and I realize I can not go back to the normal BtS game.

It's BUG mod's "feature" to write those logs into that folder as normally BUG would have been installed to Custom Assets so that all mods you have installed use it. If you move those ini files to Rise of Mankind -folder, it should read them from that location as well. I don't know why sometimes BUG writes those inis to 'Rise of Mankind' folder and sometimes to the location you described - I guess I'll have to include those inis to zip file so that the files are inside 'Rise of Mankind' folder by default. It's probably in BugPath.py file how the game decides where to save the inis.

Extra civ addon pack is not yet compatible with RoM 2.6. I'll have to go through all extra civ addon pack xml files and adjust them to RoM 2.6 settings and then release a patch for it.

You mean Megapack 2.51? There is not yet available Megapack 2.6... I've only just started making patch for Megapack to RoM 2.6 settings. Try normal RoM 2.6 first, it should work better than Megapack 2.51 (there's many reports about missing UI with Megapack).

I did download 2.6 and I can not see the menus. I also got the patch for 2.6 and I took off the Rev mod and other new ones people recommending turning off.

Go to 'Rise of Mankind' folder and open CvAltroot.py to notepad and follow the instructions in that file how to modify that file and where to place it. This should fix the problem.

Similar problem here, after 2.6 full clean installation... after few hundreds turns it "stops" waiting for other players to complete... a pity because I really appreciate the improvements of this new version!

I'll give this new update a whirl later on today. I'm very slow moving. :)

Also, Trebs being strong may be a slight exaggeration, but to be honest, if something weighs 22 tons, it's going to destroy a city... :)

I'm surprised that people would starve out the population, when you could just smash said castle/city with a catapult or Treb. I mean, nothing short of reinforced Concrete and Steel should be able to shrug off 3 ton boulders...:) Or whatever they fired. Seems like some people were just rude, and horribly inaccurate...

Same Problem happening with me too

mite want to redo 2.6 full to have the prob parts off by default......i know i can search the xml files to turn off but not everyone can.....i just started a new game and turned the revdcm off but when the game started it was all on.....also by reloading i was able to get a few hundred turns farther in but i finally found a waiting for other civs bug that wasn't passable
