Version 2.6 discussion

Open Rise of Mankind.ini and set ForceGameOptions = 1. This ensures that game reads game options from mod's xml files and not from CivilizationIV.ini which might hold old settings from earlier mod versions.

About Archer Bombardment, I think you'll have to check also Reset RevDCM option and the new settings should apply on the next turn (I'm not entirely sure how this new RevDCM system works). Manually you can set Archer Bombard on by editing RevolutionDCM.ini and setting it there to True (or 1, can't remember what type setting it was).

Excellent.... all working as it should now. Thanks for the info.

One more question though....... I do realize that you are busy and that this is probably the least of your concerns but I mentioned earlier (or in the other thread) about the RandomMapScriptChooser. Do you think you will ever be able (or willing) to fix it sometime in the future. I wouldn't be that bothered but it is the only map choice for me. Gone back to shuffle but its nowhere near as good. The original creator for it was Refar... maybe he can help.

Looking forward to the patch, hope you guys can resolve it soon :)

Someone can help me : I have a crach game with 2.6 issue of this (wonderful) mod. After a while, the game stands locked on "waiting for other civilizations" and I can't play. I just can exit of the game, but with an error of civilization game.
Do someone have this problem ?

@Francky42

It is a known issue attributed so far to the Barbarian Civ component. The problem is that though the Barb Civ should be disabled by default in 2.6 it sometimes gets enabled implicitly. Someone has posted a work around for the problem that allows you to continue with your game (look through the last couple of pages). For new games first start a dummy game in vanilla BTS then start your game with RoM this should clear any custom options including the Barb Civ one.

ok so there is 30 odd pages of "bug reporting" here, i did not look through them, but if it has not been dealt with already i receive a runtime error asking for termination of the the civ4BtS.exe file. If anyone could even direct em to the right page would be much appreciated.

I have also the same problem. It starting freezing after few turns and it don't depend of computer. RoM 2.5 was free of this issue.

How come that the game gets slower and slower to play, it is almost impossible to play the new age (1500+) and so forth.

And dont say that "it's your computer":

Vista Home Premium (hate it)
Amd Athlon(tm) 64 X2 DUALCORE 5000+
3,00gt RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600GS

The later the game the more units everyone has. Just this would explain some of the slow down :)

Its a general problem of Civ. Plus: the bigger the mod, the bigger the problem. If you only use RoM without the Megapack you should have better chances.

Here's the fixed map script, unzip it to publicmaps directory in 'Rise of Mankind' folder. Took bit longer, couple hours, to fix it as there was several problems with it but I think I got them all fixed (I hope). I tested it with standard, giant and gigantic map sizes. Let me know if you run into new problems with it.

WOW Zapppara, I really didn't expect a fix that quick (if at all). You have the appreciation of myself and several friends.

Thanks once again for this amazing mod and your dedication to its users :worship::thumbsup::hatsoff::bowdown::thanx:

I know, but still I think my computer has enough power to roll the game.

One thing to help is to change how Vista handles your video performance. Under System Properties/ Advanced Tab/Performance click the "Settings" button. 1st tab will be Visual effects. Default is "Let Windows choose......", instead select "Adjust for best performance", then click the "OK" button at bottom.

Next select the middle tab of the Performance Options popup. At the Virtual Memory section make sure the "Total paging file size for all drives: xxxxMB " is set to at least 2046MB. Use the "Change " button to set the size.

Vista is a Ram hog. If you let Vista "choose what's best for my computer" you will not be getting the full benefit of your GeForce 8600 vid card or your system ram.

My former computer was only a 2.4 single core PIV with 1.5 gig of ddr 400mhz ram and a Radeon X1650 Pro vid card. By changing what I've outlined my late game turns were cut down to less than 1/2 of what I was experiencing before I took control away from windows.

Hope this helps for you.

JosEPh :)

got the same bug , missing interface "."
Woo. I'm not the only one.:viking:

Well, me too :(

I don't get it ... 2.52 is working fine, getting 2.6 full and the Interface is completly gone. Then I tried using 2.6 patch from the working 2.52 version and as soon as I applied the 2.6 patch the game has no more Interface :( Can someony please explain a dumb user like me, what I am making wrong and how I get 2.6 to work?

Thanks!

Two (and a bit) things:-

cache - Civ and BtS can easily tell when you change the mod yu are playing but when you replace or upgrade a mod it can't "know". So clear out the cache. Hold down the shift key when loading or load a different mod or delete the cache directory.

ini files - there are differences between the two versions which means that the ini files from one causes problems in the other. Delete all ini files except civilization.ini in your my games\beyond the sword\ folder.

If this does not fix it and for people who are not running under Windows XP - read the CvAltRoot.py in the Rise of Mankind directory.

Pressing Shift or deleting the "cache" directoy from the locale settings didn't had any effect.

I guess you ment "civilizationIV.ini", and yes, I did this also but it had no effect.

Now we're getting closer, thanks a lot! That's the one that was making troubles. I have a Windows XP German and a changed "My Documents" root ... so I had to include the path to "My Documents" with the "civilizationIV.ini" in there, copy it to "Beyond the sword/assets/python" and - Hurray - it is working, I have the interface back. Thanks so much!

Do I have to scroll the whole forum to find the specific posting or do u happen to have a link to it?

I've reset my cache, redownloaded RoM 6.2 full and installed it. I turned off the Revolutions module and have been playing a game. So far I've crashed to desktop twice. Version 2.5 has been perfectly stable, but I really like some of the changes for 2.6 and I want to play it with the Rev mod on... any hope of curing these two problems? (I know it's being worked on, hoping for some sort of guess at how long. :) )

Thanks!
