Version 2.7 bug reports and feedback

Awhile back I posted a graphic issue regarding XP and having most of the graphics be 'whited' out. Was there ever a resolution to that problem?

Plus either a bug or a feature I didn't know about. I found recently that even after I attacked with my 4 trebuchets, every time another unit in that stack attacks a city, those four units seem to get 'free' ranged attacks...even if they normally miss. Now I had crusaders and other 'crusader' units from the Knightly Houses in the stack so I'm not sure what is causing it.

Then two questions requests. I think the first is a BTS 'problem' but why can't you seem to vassalize your own cities? Playing the Orbis mod, for example, unless your cities are separated by a body of water, you can't. I often like to create cities to keep my own population pressures down and build them near my vassals with the intent to give them to them but often can't. Same often goes with cities I take by force. It just often seems willy-nilly which cities you can give to who when the player should have the choice.

Secondly, is there any way that perhaps there could be a sliding scale like for culture or espionage that would divert money to upgrade units? If there is one thing I have about Civ is seeing Spearmen running around when we have tanks. I would think it would be nice if upgrades where 'cheaper' if done through this system but you could still 'crash upgrade' units for more :commerce:.

Also, I still think there needs to be another economic civic between mercantilism and slavery. Also, I would think that plantations would be vulnerable to slave revolt destruction.

i keep having constant ctds near either guild or when im about to kill an ai does any1 have a fix for this♠?
edit: idk if rom has underwater citys in late game or not i cant seem to find out?

I tried playing with a huge ROM Smartmap and got no wonder movies. Now I'm trying a huge ROM Fractal map and again there are no wonder movies. If it's the mapscripts that are causing the problem, what mapscripts are known to work (on huge) with ver. 2.71?

All the RoM prefixed maps should work on huge. I use RoM_Tectonics myself.

I have been using ROM Big and Small, with some very interesting worlds. Plenty of islands, a few large continents, and no real issues of missing content. There's even a fair amount of stone on the map (I have one stone quarry, and I've found at least two more on a search of my continent and a cursory search of the nearby islands).

It's hard to say what the real cause of your CTD is, Darkarrow, as there isn't enough info in your post to really evaluate. Maybe if you gave us an idea of if you're using any modmods, and when specifically it crashes? I know Zappara likes it if you can provide a savefile or logfile to help with diagnosing the issue.

As far as underwater cities, they don't exist in RoM. There are improvements called 'submerged city', but as stated, they are improvements only, not actual cities.

rom2.71 always popup advising build obsolete building . when I have builded the obsolete building, then rom popup advising same obsolete building.
it 's boring.

I noticed that when I enabled No Tech Brokering option the Techs can be traded before alphabet. Is that intentional?

Edit. Also, anyone who knows where to disable the Goody Hut : "The villagers have provided you with a map"

I have found 4 goody huts so far and 4 of them provided with a map. 2 of those 4 actually gave a map I already discovered rendering a useless feature totally completely useless :( (especially compared to giving units/gold/techs).
I have to say I never liked that provide with a map thing. It gives incomplete maps, so the area still needs to be scouted, sometimes the map provides only ocean (I wonder how they could map it 5000BC) which brings the most importent bug/flaw : The maps are usually given in early goody huts. But how can they provide a map sooo long time before cartography (mapmaking) or even writing, paper or alphabet is discovered.

To be honest I rather have barbs appearing. At least I'd get a little action and xp ;)

i was using the pre installed modules holy wars and custom units building etc. the odd thing was that after i uninstalled holy wars and played it like that i was able to nearly finish a perfect world on standard map size epic game speed i dont have a save game file of the crashes i mainly go on a load autosaves... sry

Maybe this is the answer:
Spoiler :
RoM v 2.7 changelog:

Techs
-----
- Changed: Writing enables tech trading instead of Alphabet

@zappara:

I noticed that the following techs are not allowed to be traded:
- Fermentation
- Horse Breeding
- Mounted Archery
- Cold Fusion

Is that intentional or is it a typo? (Assuming that the bTrade=0 command is responsible for it.)

That's odd, the AI occasionally asks for Horse Breeding and Mounted Archery from me. So, I don't know what your problem is. Unless you're crazy and having a bad tech run. :)

The mentioned techs can't be traded in multiplayer between human players.

It also seems the AI can't really cope with the 2% interest on the treasury. While having a large negative income the treasury still increases for me, but the City Gov always tries to build +gold buildings and wealth and also rushes building very rarely. Back to micromanaging I guess :)

2 small text errors: when a message appears that several cities have increased or decreases tensions the 'and' is replaced what looks like a variable 'TXT_AND' (something like this). Second one is in the bombardment message: An enemy trebuchet has distance 'bomabard' your unit.

I knew I forget to mention something relevant. :) Yes, I noticed this in hot seat game between human players. Thanks for the correction Stormwind!

I don't if this bug was here.
I have spotted ships travelling through the land.
I use RoM+Jooyo's modmods.

what causes this??

I have two minor bugs in the screenshots. I am only using vincentz's modmods.

@cheesemijit The civ changer is part of the dcm mod. Zappara made it so you have enter chipotle on the cheat mode line in the Civ4 ini file to use it;).
@vincentz Tech trading is enabled by Writing.

trying to generate a map for 50 civs on a Gigantic map generates MAFs

BTW how can I modify the RFC map that came with RoM to non-randomize resources and starts?

A while back it was posted that even though the .dll say you can have 50 civs, in actuality if you have more than 48 it MAFs. It has also been stated that if you use the BarbCiv option, that it's recommended not to exceed 24 Starting Civs.

Plus that many CIVs will slow the game down tremendously using RoM.

@Soiux, that's a bug in one of jooyo's .dll's for his mods. It's been posted and somewhat discussed in his RoM ModMod subforum thread.

JosEPh :)
