VertNes-Worlds of Altor.

Battle Plans:
Hakara tries to contact the closest thing existing to a New Magi centeralised command, or New Magi in the area, and tells them the relevant information. He argues that something needs to be done to stop Old Magi control of Alvalon.

During the battle, if Hakara sees what he thinks is an opportunity to switch sides, he will take it IF his own side is losing, AND he thinks the risk of death is small.

I will recommend Takar fight personally with the men, so he can say he is risking his own life as much as theirs. Also, wherever he is on the battlefield he will probably raise morale.

At first, Hakara will try to counter any enemy divinations. This will mean his plan is not affected. Throughout the battle, his goal will be to counter any enemy magic with his own to try and equal things (focusing on, say, forces who teleport inside the walls, or fixing parts of a flank attacked by enemies).

If Takar dies in battle, Hakara will rally the men with the idea of "Avenge Takar!".

The rest depends on whether the battle is at the fort or on the plains (the fort is preferable, but not if it means we fight exhausted and they don't). Will do two seperate plans.

Fort:
(NOTE: The enemy may settle in for a siege of the fort rather then a direct assault. If so, Hakara will argue for letting them)
(NOTE 2: Takar is in command. The strategies are Hakara's recommendations)

Then, he will recommend focusing on the upper floors, and having the space closest to the enemy be taken up by professional archers. They will fire on the enemy, being given more ammunition as they do (by the infantry if they don't think it demeaning or anything, by other archers if they do). If the enemy launch siege towers or ladders, the archers will fall back and infantry will fight them.

The enemy probably will either teleport into the fortress or smash a hole in it (if not both). Takar's best men (led by him) will counter such a move, with Hakara also focusing his personal efforts on it. This will be done by Hakara (at the expense of unconciousness if necessary) tapping the needed Fiezar to teleport them into the midst of the attackers, hopefully getting them by suprise.

To counter any Avalonian knight charge, Hakara recommends pikes if they have to be fought with infantry, but ideally attacking them from the walls. As for muskets, he considers them a fear-based weapon and acts accordingly.

Plains:
The enemy's primary advantages are their magic and the Avalonian knights. Their magic is by far the greater problem.

Hakara will wait with a reserve division of Takar's best men to counter any teleportation into the lines or other dangerous posistions. He will do a counterattack in such manner when appropriate. Meanwhile, he will counter enemy magic as he can without losing the chance to do it.

Against an Avalonian knight charge, the forces should use pikes (or swords/spears used like pikes) to bring fear into the enemy horses. Against magic, they should spread out as much as they can (forces who are able and realise other forces are spreading out should assume they are trying to counter a magic attack and act accordingly).

We will try to make use of our greater archer firepower as well- this should make victory more likely.

Spelling! AL-VAL-ON not AV-AL-ON otherwise expect the battle to go in your favour with all this work unless I decide to weak your careful laid plans! On a more serious note I hereby reward you a +2 bonus in the battle but don't get cocky. About twelve hours before I start the update.

on the trip, i will use an empty bottle that i borrowed from someone, and try to enchant it to hold fiezar. once that works, i will pump all the fiezzar i took from the mage into it, and have it as a secret reserve.

Or you could just compartmentise (?) it as I assume you have done so only a direct attempt to find out your strength will find it.

The Storm is Coming

Skep, Thomas and Moosewarrior

Continue on there way and after a couple of weeks travel arrive at the City of Trees unharmed bar the tragic loss of Aiken Druum and the unusual arrival of Amdis Alamis. They are currently hiding a few miles from the city debating how to go about entering it. Thomas soon IDs the wand as a minor weather wand. Summoning a small storm is about as far as it goes and with his Gnomish roots Thomas IDs the two bottles marked with a skull and crossbones as containing cyanide as they smell of almonds and would taste of almonds if you were stupid enough to take a swig from one.

Erez

Cjao continues to hunt for the village and is adored and feared in equal measure there. They are slowly rebuilding but the entire harvest has been destroyed so a lot of time is spent foraging.

NWAG

Prepares his rituals and draws strength from the soldiers. He manages to get through to his brethern in Alvalon and arrange an attack on the Old Magi. They made it to the fort with easy and soon had it up and running. Hakara earns himself a slap round the face when he decided to tell Tarkar to fight with the men as Tarkar thought he was surgesting Tarkar was a coward. Otherwise his plans were deemed excellent by Tarkar. Two days after you arrive and set up camp the enemy appeared on the horizin. The archers are ready and open fire as the enemy breach the outer walls with catapults and trebuchets and mangonels. The archers inflict heavy caulties (?) on the Alvalonian troops as they storm through. Then the enemy siege weapons turn on the fort itself. The archers manage to destory the mangonels as they had to get in range to fire at the fort but the trebuchets are still out of range and the soldiers have withdrawn now they realise this is not going to be a push over. The trebuchets surrounded by a thicket of steel pikes and swords. Hakara quickly summons Tarkar and his strike squad of men and teleports them right next to the trebuchets which were quickly destroyed. Then it dawns on you that you cannot get them back. In your haste and fear you did not sent yourself. You rapidly raise undead soldiers to try and break the enemy from the front while Tarkar and his men strike from the rear. Half of them make it back alive and Tarkar is among them. He wispers to you "You will be dealt with later." The enemy now hang back for now no doubt waiting for mages, maybe Magi and more siege support before they attack again.

Total losses NWAG: 2000 men- 100= 1900
Total losses NPC: 1000 men- 400= 600

Strategos

The men took the rest of the week to get ready and for the Elven village to fully muster. The spirits then soon found the portal and report several mages, one powerful soucerer, a group of Daluk and a New One. The portal is 85% complete.

Lord_Joakim

You greatly improve thanks to the practise and make above average jewalary all week. To top it all off at the end of the second week you exceed yourself and make a truely exceptional piece of jewalary. You are payed two hundred for the two weeks and are allowed to keep your masterpiece. It is vauled at 50 Darai but it vaule to you is far more as it could be enchanted with ease. OOC Note: My Lord you got lucky.

Charles Li

You must be active next week or become an NPC. You would be able to recover your character at any time.

Hang on I have not finished the update. The only reason its up is becasue I can't save it any other way as I do not have a word processer.

Oh yeah I have the city map to upload. I will do that tonight.

Hakara decides to check how the New Magi assault on the Old is going.

I have finally finished the update. I would like to blame my family's sudden burst of activity and two broken computers, my spamy laptop and the old family computer with a nackered graphics card, for the delay.

@ NWAG You did just teleport two hundred people several hundred meters and raised about fifty undead. You have used all the extra energy and half of your own reserves and you are going into battle soon. Do you really want to run the risk of getting drawn into a mental duel with another Magus?

Good point.

New Plan:
Hakara checks how the soldiers are feeling about his hasty decision to raise undead, the time of day, and how long until the enemy attacks again.

Aren't you glad your GM is so kind and points all these things out for you.

No. I know this is an unusual style of Nes and people are still learning how it all works, and this is my own mythos. So though I would love it if you could start to see these things: I do not expect you to for a little while yet.

O.K then. I'll do as I said a few posts ago.

Sorry did not see. The soldiers are a bit unnerved but mostly they apologise for no reason. It is now early evening on the day of the assult and by now all the undead are dead again. You would guess a couple of days but without either divining the future or divining the location of the reinforcing armies you cannot be sure. Tarkar has sent a messenger tellling you to go to his tent as soon as you have eaten and changed from the robes you wore in battle.

I follow Takar's orders, aware in advance he is likely to be angry and even violent. I decide to endure it before speaking.

NWAG

Nothing prepared you for his furry. He had you stripped and the fine robe burned then he kicked you twice in the stomach to make you throw up your supper. Then he said " Now I have taken your food and robes away from you I am going to punish you slowly. Not only did you attempt to kill me but you called upon the abominations we are trying to wipe out as well. The supernatural." He then takes hollow pins and fills them with a weak acid. He pushes them into your skin and the acid releases slowly burning you. You ask for forgiveness and he tells you " When you are punished you will be forgiven." He was blinded in one eye in the battle and so he pours a tiny amount of the slow acting acid into your eye. Just enough to blind you but keep you in agony for years. Finally after two hours of torture he removes the pins and lets you get dressed. He hugs you and says "You are forgiven," kisses you on the top of the head like you are a child and sends you back to your room.

OOC: Why are you looking at me like that? I said this guy was crazy, evil:evil: and hated anything non human.
