VertNes-Worlds of Altor.

Yes of course but move your application to the OOC thread. All magic users have basic mental powers so you could be a race that has them naturally, like elves, or a magic user skilled in that area. A bit like Strategos is.

In addition to what I have on the equipment list on the front page. Khyrdin has:
-27 dari and 12 sari
-Fishing Net
-Rope
-Spade
All looted from Aiken's body.

I use fire to destroy the energy that is animating it, then will record the area on the map. Record all undead on it until there are no more. Take the body back for reburial and station guard at the cemetary.

You said that I find an Animated Body.

Kill it.

Take it to the Commander.

Re bury it.

Station miltia to pervent more Necromancy.

OOC: I just got back from work and am really tired, so I'll be brief:

IC: I left everything heavy and metallic behind in a safe place and head to the elf village where I will attempt to enlist their support. I will also ask around about whether they know of the location of any forest spirits. I will then race back in order to make my meeting with Commander Kavin.

OOC Again: I thought some armed soldiers had arrived at the village after the Dragon attack (along with craftsmen), I was kind of hoping/expecting their aide when I went to Kavin.

No I said you were close. You are at least another day's travel away.

Halfway there

Having burried they dead friend they set off once more for the City of Trees making good progress with no more setbacks. They are now just two weeks away from the city. Oh and they found a small, abandoned tower as they set up camp. Will they search it?

Strategos

You make it to the elven village in a couple of hours. You go and speak to the head of the village. " Greetings Chief of Weldenvar (Watching Guard) Village. I am here to request your help in closing a portal gate to a demonic or spirit realm. This gate has the potenial to wipe out our world. So will your mages and warriors join me and the militia of Larthorn in combat." The elven chief agrees and then says "You will want to meet rest of the forest spirits as well I guess. I will summon them and take them with me when my warriors gather at your village. Please don't banish any of them they are all good friends to me. Also don't tell any other chiefs or Untor forbid the Queen and King I am doing this for you. I would be exiled most likely." You make it back in plenty of time for the meeting and find four other militia men there as well as the Commander. " Sorry I could not get more men but most people do not sign up to face their nightmares. Did you have any success with the elves?"

Lord_Joakim

You manage to make a fair amount of jewelry but it is not of very high quality.
Talor pays you 30 Sari for the work and the rent is 100 Sari for ten years. Luckly for you you have another two weeks before rent is due. Talor advises you spent some time practising at home on your days off.

Charles Li

The blip of magic disappears and you cannot find it again. You return to Larthorn content knowing that you scared the Necromancer off.

NWAG

Tarkar is delighted to have you on board. You quickly discover that you are heading for an old boarder fort of Alvalon to fortity and hole up in whilst you are preparing for the attack on Alvalon itself. The army is in full fighting order now constantly as you are fairly close to the boarder with Alvalon. Tarkar insisits on training you himself and orders you to blunt two longswords with magic and then you spar. You are slowing improving and amazed Tarkar in one sparring match were you stopped his sword centimeters above your head using magic without thinking but you paided the price. Unprepared for the sudden drain you lost consciousness. You also began to pratice your big illusions but struggle to make them look realistic even from a distance. You will need to pratice more here.

Thomas Summons a floating eye(tm)* and uses it to search the tower.

*Floating Eye: a very very weak, minor level demon that's only purpose is to see in dangerous places for thier master. The relate a constant stream of Images towards It's master, while the master stays safe far and away.

what's in the tower?

In future, since there's no longer any reason for seperation, could my update be with the main one?

Yes of course NWAG. Sorry I could not have done it anyway so sending it as a PM was a poor excuse for not doing it.

Skep

You look at your map and think how the hell did I miss that?!

Thomas

The demon disappears as it crosses the doorway. You think it was banished and that there is a still active anti magic field around the tower.

“Like chaff in the wind is a troubled mind.” So said Master Kamar, and if true, my mind was a chaff in a giant storm. This whole case from the beginning had been plagued with bad luck, such as the Dragon nearly wiping out all my clients, and strange mysteries, such as why I had found a stone from a demonic portal in my client’s lodge. Now, since my visit to Weldenvar I had even more mysteries to consider.

First, why would the chief think I would banish the spirits who accompanied him? I was an exorcist, one who drove out evil spirits. So then is he implying that he will be accompanied by evil spirits? No, hopefully this is just a case of an man ignorant of my profession, with a skewed idea of what I do.

More troubling, however, is that he didn’t want me to tell other chiefs or the royal house. Normally, I would think, a person would be proud of saving an area from certain destruction, they would want me to tell as many people as possible. Does the chief think that the portal we are going to destroy is connected in some way to the royal house? Or did the chief know more about this portal than he was letting on, and wanted me to destroy all evidence so that the matter would go away quietly. I made a mental note to borrow some paper and ink. I wanted to write all these oddities down and send them to the temple, just in case I died during the mission.

"Sorry I could not get more men but most people do not sign up to face their nightmares. Did you have any success with the elves?" I looked up, I suppose I had automatically gone where Commander Kavin was waiting for me.

“Yes,” I replied distractedly, still trying thinking through all these recent events. After a while, I looked up, only to find every eye on me. Was I supposed to say something else? I racked my brain, finally deciding that they expected a rousing speech to raise moral.

Clearing my throat, I began in a hopeful tone. “You go now to your probable death. If you don’t die, you will be haunted by visions of what you will meet. If you wish to leave, do so now. Then, if we fail, you will not face a probable, but a certain death and your life will be haunted by visions of what you will meet, for the few seconds you continue to live, screaming in agony.” I paused, somehow feeling that these weren’t the right words I should be saying. “And…uh…for Untor we fight!”

They at least should have pretended to cheer, but instead they just looked at me. “Yes, well, I guess we’ll just wait here for our reinforcements to come.” I quickly turned my back on the few men and sat down. It could have been my imagination but I still thought I felt their eyes on me. Trying to ignore the rather unpleasant sensation I pulled out my meditation scroll and began unrolling it, revealing a bit of a mountain. ‘A mountain, so serene and peaceful.’ So I told myself, but at that moment it sounded like a lie.

Strategos as an elf you would know that the Chief would have to get clearence from the Royal family and fellow nobles/chiefs before he could do a thing and even then he would most likely been ordered to wait for reinforcements.

Startegos

The chief arrives. "Here are all the spirits that were left. A few of them are a bit shady but they agree to work with us until we leave the forest after the portal has been closed or we will be dead and not have to worry. So no banishing my, tempory allies, ok? As we are all geared up shall we devise a plan and set off?"

I go to Commander Kavin and ask for more tasks. Also offer the help of Bad Lands Tribesmen whom I know well and currently have full larders.

After practice to see how much I can actually divine (checking for any barriers or attempts to prevent it), I offer to divine as much as I can for Takar as to the Avalon armies, their commanders (particularly personalities, and any grudges they may have), and the centeralisation level of the kingdom.

I continue my training, and also look for opportunities to reduce Takar's level of morality to the point where he will condone the use of undead. I start with trying to persuade him on undead animals and nonhumans.

“Don’t worry about your allies, as Master Niet once said, ‘Beware, lest the one who fights with a monster becomes one himself. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.’” I gave a lopsided grin, showing off my teeth. “If I were to banish all demons, I might have to start with myself.” Suddenly I laugh. “Just kidding.”

I waved over to Commander Kavin for him to join us. As he ambled over, I began. “Right, as this is my area of expertise, I will be giving orders. Now naturally, you may follow them or not as you see fit, and if you’re lucky, if you don’t follow them you will have a quick death. The forest spirits are to act as scouts to begin with, depending on our enemy, our attack plan will change. So, the spirits will gather as much information for us as possible without being noticed, and then relay it to us. At that moment, I will construct the plan that in my expert opinion will give us the best chance of success. As this is the last time you may object to something I say without immediately dying afterwards, please voice all objections now. Otherwise we shall begin our march.”

Commander Kavin tells you of a rouge general, Tarkar, from Alvalon. He says that the King of Alvalon would pay good money for his death and that maybe a few lads in the village would be happy to help. "Be careful now though he's got a whole army and they are ready for an attack by Alvalonian troops. Poison would be the best way to go in my opinnion with regards to killing Tarkar." You tell him of the two chiefs you know and offer to contact them "Wandering nomad tribesmen help Larthorn! You have got to be kidding me if we are lucky they would trade or just pass by and if we were unlucky they would burn us to the ground without your friends or any real resistance from the militia. No kid maybe they would help you against Tarkar but they would not help us for free I can tell you that." You thank Kavin and leave to vist some of the more shady areas of village.

NWAG

Your practise was going very well buut then suddenly darkness surronded your mind as if someone had thrown a blanket over it. "Well, well Hakara I see you did not pay the attention you should have in divination classes. You forgot to shield and mask your mind so I found you. Spying for Tarkar I see really that will not do. Oh and thank you for telling me your location the Alvalon army had been struggling to find you but now they have. Soon I will have the backing of one of the richest kingdoms on the contient then we will see how your little rebellion fares. Good day to you." The presense leaves and snap out of the spell at once, you tell Tarkar what has happened and you flinch as he slaps you hard round the face " You idiot!". Crack! "Fool!" Crack! "Get out of my sight" Crack! You run back to your tent and make ready to move out.

I'll summon another FLoating eye, and use it to observe as closely as possible the outside of the tower, trying to look inside without going inside

The magical eye tells you the tower is twenty meters high and has three windows then it disappears same as the last one. You feel the anti-magic bubble expand and reckon a magic user must be inside the tower generating it and controlling it.
