Flags...nothing more than a single object can shape an entire nation, define a culture, and make a statement to the world.

So, what's your personal favorite? I've designed my own to give my Civilization II a very "at home" feeling to me, giving me the opportunity to personalize my nation and set it apart from the other AI-controlled players, for example.

Just seeing what kind of flags people found to be either symbolic, aesthetically pleasing, or just generally fascinating.

Well, i think this is based off my topic so, I like straight lines and an simple, unique symbol kinda like the Isreali flag or the flag of Oman or even Swaziland.

the flag of belgium plain and simple but so nice.

The Indian Tricolor I believe is the most simplistic, yet meaningful flag. The orange/saffron stands for piety and patriotism that we have to make, the white stands for peace, nobiltity and purity and the green stands for the Prosperity . THe blue wheel at the center stand for the 24 hours of a day which must be used to the fullest in order for our country to progress:goodjob: :)

Tricolors are nice, but if several countries use flags with similar or the same colors but in a different order, it can get confusing. :crazyeye:

Glorification of cloth. I've never found flags very interesting or inspiring. I find the pledge of allegiance unamerican.

That's quite funny since every immigrant who wants to be an American citizen has to take an oath of allegiance

Besides, either you are extremely intellectual( ) or an extremely prosaic person if you don't find the flag of your own country inspiring:p

I am from Quebec, although I don't really like our flag. Canada is better, IMHO. I think the flag that has the more meaning is the Olympic flag. 5 rings, 5 continents together...

I like, love and respect my own flag. I also like, love and respect the Union Jack.
I am partial to the Irish flag, the Swedish flag, and the Southern Cross, one of our great nationalist emblems.:)
I don't have any pretty pictures, so ye will have to use your imagination. :p

the swedish flag lol, thats a rather plain flag dont ya think? not enough "action" in it, but my alltime favorite flag does not belong to a nation, but to an ishockey/football team with enourmus skill DJURGÅRDENS. I. F whoo whoo whoo:goodjob:

Patriotic fervour is the province of the fool.

A flag means nothing, and most people who wave them,
have very little idea why they do it.

I love my country, but it's only a concept.
I hate the idea of the "them and us" mentality.

I like Libya so simple, so gree.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, not that I happen to agree with it. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know exactly why I wave the flag. A flag, by itself, is only a design on a sheet of cloth. To me, the flag of the United States reminds me of all the good things about my country. All the reasons for which I thank God I was born here. I'd bet there are quite a few people from other countries who feel about their country the way I feel about mine.

People who wave the flag are not usually brain-dead nationalistic sheep, though I won't deny that some are. You'll probably think that I am, too. It doesn't matter.

You can love your own country without hating everyone else.

I can't believe it, even civfanatics is infested. Djurgårdarjävel:D

Anyway, we WALKED to victory this year, and will do so for many years to come.

For you none-swedes out there, "we" in this case means FBK, the unchallanged masters of the swedih national hockey leauge.

These are my favourite flags. Some for meaning, others for purely aesthetic purposes.

I also like the American when its animated and shiny on the internet. I love dark blue and green, which you may be able to tell from my proclaimed love for the Libyan flag.
