((Sorry for the wall of text, can't help it. ._.))

Okay, so I've been in a Civ mood for the last week and a half or so. Played a map, I don't remember which Civ. Got...I'm not sure, into the 13-1400's, maybe? Then big sections of the map were covered in solid brown and black lines and whenever I was over those areas, the game was suddenly unplayably laggy. Not to mention I couldn't see anything under them. So I gave up on the game and went to bed.

Next day I found out I wasn't using the newest drivers for my video card (Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT), downloaded them, and the game worked fine. Played three full games with no problem. So last night I decided what the hell and spent money I didn't have to get the new DLC civilizations. Picked the Polynesians, everything was going well (aside from Greece and Russia being total dicks), when around 1300-1400, most of my main island (playing on Archipelago, it wasn't very big, but it had my three main cities) was covered in the same horrible lines and madness, except they were flashing and flying all around the place. it was 5 am so I gave up and went to bed. Tried again today with Babylon, same thing happened over an allied city state and enemy territory, though not flashing.

So I sadface'd and gave up, but stupidly didn't take any screenshots before exiting any of these. I loaded them up again to recreate it and everything worked fine for a turn, but then I get a slightly less horrible bug, along with turning my entire map black except for the city dots. :|

The little cone of slightly more dense...light? emanates from whatever unit I have selected in the area, and it's not restricted to the areas where the blackness was. It goes away if I scroll far enough, but comes back if I select a new unit or go into a city.

So uh. Any ideas? >_o

Restarted the game in Dx9, am playing the Babylon game. The glitches are gone, though it's noticeably laggier. Might just be the firefox window though.

I had similar effects when my graphics card was overheating. Just check if it is clean.
