Not a "LOOK THEY PLAGIARIZED!!!1" thread, so much as it is a "hey, I sort of noticed that" kind of thing. I'm sure half of these are just my imagination, or were pointed out before, but nevertheless...

1. The StarCraft Terran theme and the interlude (4:40~ to 5:28, especially at 5:10) of Opeth - Serenity Painted Death.

2. (Loosely) the first X-Hunter stage from Mega Man X-2 and Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be They Name. Not really sure about this one. The X-Hunter stage sounds extremely familiar, somehow...

3. Robo's Theme from Chrono Trigger and Rick Astley.

4. The Secret of the Forest Theme from Chrono Trigger and Opeth - To Rid the Disease (listen to 3:56 - 4:40 and tell me you don't hear this!).

5. The Final Fantasy Theme and Wagner's Tristan Isolde Prelude (specifically at 1:10 - 1:42).

People say The World Adventure from Sonic Unleashed sounds like Super Mario Galaxy's credits theme.

What makes this epic is some people often use this critique as proof the game(Unleashed) sucks, just like some say it sucks because Werehog means "Manpig" and thus is inappropriate. No... never mind the fact the Werehog stages take a million years or the medal collection is annoying as hell... the etymology of a gimmick or a single vague similarity makes it suck! Gee... sounds like the critics are like some of the nutcases from the '08 election... don't critique your opponent on his views, critique him on some vague aesthetics such as possibly being Muslim or being black!

Anywho, off-topic. That's one pair of tracks I felt I should submit. :)

I think the probably one of the most famous case of game music sounding like music from somewhere else is the music that's played during Scrap Brain Zone on the first Sonic the Hedgehog. The music played during that level sounds a lot like the End Credits music from Blade Runner.
