Hihihi.

I can't help but laugh my ass out, thinking about the modern age look of the Viking leader (Harald Blueteeth?) in the diplomacy screen.

A Viking with a suit and a tie

Or maybe a Hell's Angels type of guy with a bandana, leather coat, and big braided beard

Some chap named Haverlock has a Viking Raider unit (4/2/1; amphib); go to:

Some other nice units there as well.

Coupled with the galley graphic as a longboat and we're set ... ?

IMHO should be called "Norse" as all previous points on geographic dispersion (from Newfoundland to Constantinople, where they were known as Varangians and formed the palace guard) are well taken; should be Commercial and Expansionist. As their longboats permitted the penetration of Russia via its rivers (which obviously cannot be done in Civ III) PERHAPS it's worth giving them the "treat all terain as roads" modifier -- now THERE'S a medieval terror unit for you!

Well, look at the Scandinavians now. You could say they're Vikings with suits and ties.
