Speaking from a position of distance, I'd say Risky is not a wise choice at this stage in the tournament. Rather, Novel, Complex, Strong, Forcing are better choices.

I play 2. Nc3 against Alkeline's Defense and am always delighted to see 2. ... e5 (I then play 3. f4). Probably you've played this line many a time before. 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 I'm less crazy about for white (and so have almost always played 2. Nf6).
I know 2. Nc3 is a lazy way of dealing with Alky's defense (rather than learning the opening) but it seems to get me out of the book early & the best man will win. Black rarely seems to play 2. ... e5 but when he does it's nice.

Playing 2. Nc3 d5 is the way to go. You just have to be ready for 3. e5 d4 4. ef dc 5. fg cd+ 6. Qxd2 Qxd2+ 7. Bxd2 Bxg7 8. 0-0-0 Be6. You also have to consider 3. ed Nxd5 4. Bc4.

I was once rather embarrassed by a much lower rated player after 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3.f4 exf4 and I failed to win/equalize and made a few errors. He didn't make any mistakes and I lost.
he was rather underrated and his rating has since shot up by a few hundred points.
