Considering all these war threads, I thought someone should make a stress-free poll (not sure if this poll has been asked before).

The question that has plagued mankind since the beginning: which came first-
1. the chicken
2. the egg

Considering evolution, if a chicken came from a proto-chicken, and the proto-chicken laid a proto-egg (which is not a chicken egg), then the chicken came first, having hatched from the proto-egg.

Well....thats a whole other debate, which is in the OT forum, 'Creation or Evolution'.

Depends on if the egg has to be a chicken egg or not. If it does, then I go with what CivCube says, if it doesn't, I say the egg came first.

Well, since an egg is essentially a cell, and chickens are made of cells, I would propose that, in fact, chickens are eggs.

Therefore I must politely abstain from this vote.
:crazyeye:

I voted for the chicken, but now I think I should have changed my vote. After all, as a bird, chickens haven't been on this earth for more than a few dozen million years, where as dinosaurs have been around for hundreds. Dinosaurs laid eggs, so eggs definately came first.

You never said it had to be a chicken egg.

I voted egg, because I felt like it.

God created the Chicken first.

What's this? Chicken? Eggs? I ordered the pork chops!

Assuming evolution, the chicken (or a chicken-like animal) came first.

Can't have an egg without a chicken, and all life evolves from bacteria( There is no God), which eventually turns into an organism, which could be a chicken, afterwards it lays the eg. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm................yolk.

eggs. two eggs can make a chicken, but two chicken's can't make an egg.

a parrot.

The real chicken and egg came at the same time, although I guess you could say that the chicken came first because evolution slowly developed an animal that laid eggs. T he animals that came before the chicken weren't chickens, because they didn't lay eggs. When the modern chicken evolved, the egg came at the same time because one way to identify a chicken is to see if it lays eggs. So basically, chickens evolved from birds who laid eggs, who evolved from reptiles who laid eggs, and you could go as far back as to when the chicken's ancestors didn't lay eggs.
Its kind of confusing.

I have no explanation for the religious beleif that God created the world in 7 days.
