Vox Populi Civilizations Compatibility Request Thread

Perhaps we need a parallel thread in which people list Civs they have tested and have found compatible with Vox Populi (VP)? JFD has a whole slew of Civs now that are explicitly identified as being compatible with VP. The list could begin with those. Perhaps some of the others are also generally compatible as well?

A list such as this would be incredibly helpful to many.
There is a list https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/vox-populi-compatible-civilizations-showcase.574461/

Yes. That is a list of Civs that have been modded to work with Vox Populi. However, there is a far longer list of Civs that already work with it, with no modification required. That's the list I am suggesting might be a good idea to start in a separate Thread.

No, there isn't. If it worked, it would be in the thread.

Such is the confusion and why we need a list. For there are about two dozen JFD Civs alone that are explicitly rated by JFD as compatible with the "Community Balance Patch," the original name of the Vox Populi Mod. I use these mods myself. They appear to work fine (though there's a bug with the The Kingdom of Egypt (Hatshepsut) mod).

Here is my complete list of JFD Civilizations. All of these are rated compatible by with CBP by JFD.

There are other Civs as well that are compatible. For example, there's an Inuit Civ mod that has been tested and reported by someone as working. I presume many others will as well.

Just because it works doesn't mean it's compatible.

A while ago, I made SQL Triggers to the CBP files that triggers a compatibility check to make sure UB replacements of any vanilla buildings have correct properties. (Unique Libraries reduces illiteracy). However the problem lying there is that CBP is not often triggered before the civilizations, so most custom civilizations get obsolete or lose their VP-compatibility upon refreshing the cache.

The problem also is that Vox Populi was meant to improve the AIs and thus the custom civilizations that I work on also have to be compatible with AI logic. If there is some civilization that allows you to buy a city-state from the UI, but prevents the AIs from doing so. We have a problem.

We have different standards. Here's mine: If the game don't crash and the Civ works as advertised, it's compatible. Any further tinkering is fine by me but I'd rather not wait for perfection. As I said, these Civs are rated by the builder as fully compatible with the Community Balance Patch. I've no reason to challenge his claim.

I am certain there are other Civs that will work with it as well. Be nice to build a list of all those that have been identified by users.

Like Enginseer said, we have different standards
I personally don't consider it compatible unless every aspect works perfectly and the civ is stronger than the weakest and weaker than the strongest base-civ in VP.
The AI also have to perfectly be able to deal with every aspect of the civ, not just make choices at random where a player could benefit.

If you want to make a list of civs that doesn't crash the game, by all means go for it, but this probably isn't the right thread for it :D

The point is not to be a gate-keeper for QUALITY. Only to inform players of their options. If you try out one of these compatible Civs and you think it's unbalanced, don't use it. But someone else may enjoy it. Many people would benefit from a list such as this. I know I would.

Again, if you want to make a list, go for it. This just doesn't seem like the thread to try and recruit people that share your beliefs on what makes a civ compatible.

Been using JFD's Lithuania with VP and it seems to work very well. The only thing I have noticed is that I can't seem to found a religion (checking to see if that was intended)

I'll add a report of that bug to the parallel thread I've created.

Are you able to confirm that bug with a second test?

I was playing with the Canton civ as an AI and around turn 95 when it was their turn the game would close itself. Not sure what happened here and dont have the save anymore unfortunatly..

Did you play with the updated version? I'm not sure. If it's the UA or not now.. maybe it's connected to the UB since Circus usually comes out at turn 95. I'll do some more checking... maybe it's the original mod itself, I've heard it went under some new updates as well. I'll check it out again.

The -5% social policy cost Not sure if the Ideology thing works (after 2 level 3s you get 1 level one from another ideology)
Plus Balance (They grant 2 UBs, any chance of revamping them for Vox?)
I'm never doing compatibility for civilizations that has a large E&D support especially with my experiences in trying to make the Confederate States of America compatible (hence why I am never doing the Moors or the Gauls).

I was playing with the steam version of both mods about a week ago, so I am not sure if it was the latest or not. Hope you can track down the bug because the civ seems like a lot of fun.

I'm having the same problem. Not sure if you remember Enginseer, but I was the one who posted the github issue about it, the one about older systems and the auto coast/ocean claim crash and you went ahead and updated it.
I finally got time to try the new updated version that you posted, and the crash is still happening.
if u want I can post my save file!

Hmm. I prefer you would have IGE and take a look at what the Canton AI is building and check their units as well. I don't have time at the moment to do so.

The closest building due to finish is a worker. however I went ahead and pressed hurry production to finish sooner to see if the crash would happen earlier, but it still happened on the same turn, so I dont think it has anything to do with buildings. I didnt find anything odd with their units either.

Also, These are the building that the cantons currently have in their capital:
Monument
Council
Market
Palace
Library
Lighthouse
Walls
Shrine
Stone works
