Thanks for the input guys I went along those lines....
So here goes in hindsight I might have done a few things differently but live and learn right.
OH we are at war now and JC is being a good boy so here is my report.....
Turn 0
Ok JC does gift us Ivory. Now we can build Oliphants
Turn 1
We get paper and start machinery for badly needed maces.
JC will trade Drama +120g for paper and accept (won’t trade anything else)
Cyrus too advanced
KK will only give Calender. After some debate and trying Feudalism/Machinery (NOT) he will offer Compass so I think that will help us in health and wealth OK.
Try Huyana nothing to trade.
Turn 2
CH finishes cat start phant. Okinawa finishes Phant start another. We scout Ning-Hsia (whatever) with additional army on the way and hill with jungle excellent spot to start. Has sugar, dyes and iron and will free up our spices at Turfan.
Wkr at Cuman start another cottage. Everything redded out with JC. HC will give us 210 gold for Drama, get him to trade calendar for Drama +50g/WM.
Turn 3
CH builds Phant and start another. Besh -7gpt maintenance feel we should build a CH and we pop a scientist and he will give 1659 beakers towards Education and take it.
Machinery due in 5 turns Education now due in 9 turns but won’t stay that way until our finances are improved. Now in hindsight wish I had gone with education for trade. Move wkrs to CH for cottage.
Again here too I should have kept scientist until we started education but I acted before I thought about it. Excited like an evil Lord.
Turn 4
CC done with Cat start harbor to improve economy. Wkrs start cottage at CH. Drop science to 50% Machinery still has 4 turns left.
JC’s reason for not wanting to trade:
Turn 5
Axe done in Paris keep back for defense. Take sword out of queue as Machinery due in 3 turns for maces.
Turn 6
Just notice why we loose deal with JC we lost spices to culture. Paris finishes cat start Phant. CH finishes Phant start Courthouse -5 maintenance. Wkr finishes cottage start farm for growth.
Turn 7
Paris finishes phant start Mkt (have enough soldiers now) We are 6th in power though YUK.
Turn 8
Finish machinery – start education due in 12 turns as we have to drop science to 40%. Using pre-chops at Paris to get Market fast. Declare war on KK (oh boy) JC now cautious still giving us Ivory – sell him fish for 6 gpt. We lost a lot of health by going to war but can bounce back once we take Ning-Hsia.
Turn 9
Ok this will hurt but rush Courthouse in Besh growth in 1 turn only loose 1 pop overall. Use prechops to rush Market in Paris so it can start maces.
Turn 10
Our large army near Ning-hsia (that name drives me nuts) I would get to jungle hill to avoid cross river penalty and for defensive purposes. Tried to take out iron with phant (near Karakorum) spear attacked and lost, Longbowmen attacked and won. So that means KK has moved some troops out of Karakorum to do this. Paris finishes market start maces. Wkrs head to prechop for courthouse in CH. Ok army arrives (see pic) Ning hsia is takeable and get our spices back and sugar there too. We have some troops left behind near Old Sarai as I am worried with so little defense there. Besh loose scientist/Merch but growth in 2 turns so it can be fixed then. Besh attacked with cat looses and Tabriz is light guarded. Has a mace there now.
We can build harbours now for improvement in commerce. Paris is a good candidate need health boost too.
At least we got three techs out of it and can build maces. Would be nice to have horses and wonder where Monty is. He is an excellent candidate for attack at some point. We can get to optics to get caravels after education and I hope that education will still be tradeable for numerous techs. Perhaps once we take Ning-Hsia we can go back to more science/add scientist again in Besh and get education faster. The others don't have it yet but trading paper has given them the ability to get there soon. So if we could somehow go to 100% (or better than 40-50%) science from gold from Ning-hsia/ prechop for CH in Corney hills we might be able to pull it off. Besh was costing us a lot -7gpt in main.
NamliaM the pre-chops were a great help. I used them for the Market in Paris and sending workers to the other prechop for Corney hills courthouse which is costing us -5gpt.
I notice too that Khan doesn't have many elephants. We do have some wandering around Corney Hills/Old Sarai plus two cats. Maybe once we build some maces we can utilize those to go for Karakorum. The only thing I don't like about Karakorum there is no defensive ground.
Oh that army at Ning-Hsing have not used their promotions so Greyfox you might want to do something about that before moving to the jungle hill.
EDIT: Also with not all cities have buddhism so not all of our troops can utilize the extra promotion. Cyrus has been helping spreading the faith and I notice there are more missionaries heading our way. It's no wonder he's so advanced he's filthy rich...Philosophy has been discovered already and DR so no shrine for us only through conquest.
