VQ06b - Emperor just win!

Ok this was a quiet turnset. After looking through our military I decided it might be best to wait on the war till we have some better units.

Turn 2: 1844 AD
We got clams on our side so I cancel the trade of clams from Cyprus.

Turn 3: 1846 AD
Turfan: Bank -> Aqueduct
Karakoam: Ironworks -> Infantry for the rest of the turnset building 1 every 1.5 turns

Turn 4: 1848 AD
CH: Factory -> Infantry for the rest of the turnset building 1 every 3 turns.
Okinawa: Bank -> Temple
New Sarai: Grocer -> bank

Turn 7: 1854 AD
Radio -> Mass Media
Ok, I don’t know how to get Cyrus to research the same one, he’s researching Industrialism right now.
Paris: Oxford University -> Observatory

Turn 8: 1856 AD
Besh: Factory -> Drydock
Okinawa: Temple -> Factory
CC: Grocer -> Factory

Turn 9: 1858 AD

After turn comments:

I have Karakoam and CH building Infantries. Maybe in a bit you can switch CH to artillery. Besh is starting its first destroyer.

JC completed the Apollo Program so we need to distract him with war or deal with him ourselves. I suggest we give him the tech to declare war on Monty. If we get called into war we should be able to defend ourselves when it happens.

If we can’t change Cyrus’s tech I suggest we help them with Industrialism then hopefully he picks Mass Media. I would research Mass Media, but I think we would want the UN and not Cyrus.

We have 43% population while HC has 26%, which means JC and Monty has 31%. If JC doesn’t vote for us we won’t have enough for the diplomatic win even if we took out Monty.

Greyfox Canada will be glad to have you. I live near Toronto about a 10 hour drive from Montreal. My Dad used to live in Notre Dame de la Merci in Northern Quebec. Montreal is a great town lots of things there to do and nice women. If you get a chance check out the just for laughs shows if they are on.

Back to the game.

I just checked the save and got Cyrus to research Mass Media thanks to Mutineer's advice. I asked JC to go to war with Monty and he said the following. "I don't see how a deal is possible". Now I didn't try to coax him with techs since when you usually ask what he wants he will tell you what it will take. But he didn't do just doesn't see how a deal is possible. I asked him to do it for a friend but declined as well "you press us too hard". Quite frankly we need a lot more troops, transports to start in on Monty by ourselves.

What I also don't understand is that JC is only pleased even though he is at +11 with us???

Should we think about going for a space victory instead but we need be quick since Julius is on his way but is behind us in techs.

I do some "ass kissing" and keep trying during my turnset but getting apollo might be a good backup plan....

EDIT: Going to war with JC right now isn't advisable if that's an alternate plan since he has some serious SOD's in his cities. Maybe think about Scotland Yard too to get some spies and sabotage in the event he is near completion of space ship but that is a ways off.
 
If you load up the save armstrong posted, you will find that JC is willing to go to war with the 2 techs we had over him. This imply that he is mostly likely halfway through researching the techs so they lost appeal to him. Since we should still be way ahead of him in research wise, we should be able to learn a tech he dosen't have and get him to war. No point we going to war ourselves, since the whole objective of waring Monty is to gain mutual-struggle relationship with JC.

IMHO, we don't need space as back up. Get the UN built and we should be able to win before JC can even start building the engine.

EDIT: One more thing: since we want Cyrus to research MM, maybe we should go 0% to amass gold. Together with Mass media and gold, we should be able to get JC to war.
 
Turn 0-1860

Get Cyrus to change to Mass Media. Ok JC won’t go to war with Monty, he says “I don’t see how a deal is possible”. We are at +11 with him. (but still at pleased??)

Turn 1-1862

New Sarai finishes Bank start destroyer. Well look at Monty, how about that, he has declared war on Julius Caesar. Good ole Monty making things easy for us, at least now we don’t have to bribe JC into war.
Workers start Lumber mill/ Workers start railroad near CH.
We are the second largest civilization. Whooopy doo….

Turn 2-1864

JC is only +4 with HC and +11 with us.

JC asks us to go to war so I oblige of course. He is now friendly with so we need a navy to protect our shore. We are +12 with JC now. Karakorum start Artillery – CH finishes Infantry start another

Turn 3-1866

We are down to 1 turn for Mass Media and follow Chris’s advice and let Cyrus finish it, so we can get to UN first. Paris finishes observatory start factory for production. Ning-hsia finishes Hermitage start observatory health at 0 so factory out and takes too long. Tabriz finishes observatory start university crappy production. Kara finishes Artillery start another. Monty threatens our clams/ caravel so I upgrade it to destroyer. We get another Great Artist send him to Ning-Hsia for culture bomb.

Turn 4-1868

OS starts destroyer MM for better production. UN started in Karakorum due in 6 turns. Monty runs away from our destroyer. Use GA to culture bomb Ning Hsia we get dyes back. Wait for next turn to correct deal as with PA border tend to even out. We are researching industrialism (both) in 7 turns.

Turn 5-1870

Ch finishes infantry start Artillery.

Turn 6-1872

Besh finishes destroyer start another. OK after thinking about it I start a golden age to speed things up. UN done in 3 turns now. No point just having these guys sitting there and they aren't much use otherwise. We could have used merchant for coin but we have good production so I think Golden age is better. (getting UN faster is better)

Turn 7-1874

CH finishes artillery start another. UN due in 2 turns now……

Turn 8-1876

CH finishes artillery start another. Turfan finishes university no more infrastructure start artillery. Worker stuff railroads. (why don’t we just automate them now??)

Turn 9-1878

We have built the UN and industrialism due in 2 turns. We can start building tanks and battleships soon. First vote for UN sec/gen of course of vote for us. Kara start infantry.

Turn 10-1880

(probably my last turn in this SG—good team work guys)

Diplomatic victory requires 448 votes out of 723.
CH finishes artillery start infantry. Besh finishes destroyer start transport. Okinawa finishes factory start coal plant +2 health available. Karakorum finishes Infantry start another. New Sarai finishes destroyer start transport.

We are secretary general of the UN with 436 votes. (VQ06b, Cyrus, JC) That is short of diplomatic victory by 12 votes. JC is now +14 with us so it looks good for diplomatic victory if we can get those extra 12 votes.

4 turns lefts on golden age. Maybe with some farms mming promote growth for votes we can do it without war. Although like Greyfox says war is fun, fun……Take some soldiers to Monty. We will have the ability to build tanks in 1 turn so we could raze a big city of his to reduce his votes. We now have 5 destroyers and enough for a small force.

We are still trading dyes for wheat which I forgot to look into. Since we have the dyes again but wouldn't that have automatically cancelled the deal. I was hoping by culture bombing it we could get JC's dyes but got Cyrus's instead. I have noticed with PA's the borders even out between civs and maybe that's what happened.

Good work on making Karakorum a production powerhouse Armstrong. Not even a factory there. And thanks to Mutineer for pointing out how to get Cyrus to research what we need. Another round of thanks to Chris for pointing out how to get first dibs on UN.

Of course thanks to my team mates for the learning experience and most enjoyable game play. I am pretty sure that this is my last turn as I don't think it will take much to get 12 votes added to our votes. We better work fast though if JC ever decides to go to Free religion he will go to pleased with us. We need him at friendly to get a diplomatic victory.

Good job Cosmichail. Now between us and Cyrus we need i think 16 more population points while the others stay the same and we should have enough to win. That is assuming JC votes for us. If we get the mutual military struggle, we most likely should have him friendly with us.

Great job, cosmic. What a stroke of luck that Monty decided to speed things up for us.

I don't think JC will change to free religon. There is no benefit in doing so since as I recall, there is only one religion in our continent. But, now that UN is built, and we are only 12 votes short, all we need to do is to reduce Monty's population by a bit and we should win.

Although I could have played, but I think I would decline and let namliaM have the fun.

Well I played my turns.... And was unsuccesfull in my attempt at finishing this game. Had I been more forcefull with the floating :hammer: :hammer2: then probably I could have pulled the win out of the bag... Anyway this is how the two votes went down....


As you can see our % of votes is DROPPING :cry: so we will need that hammer. Atleast JC is voting for us... :)

JC made peace with Monty in 1890, just as Cyrus kicks of a golden age...

We only have +1 for mutual strugle and NO :confused: "we helped to save your pittifull little hinny"?? +1 ???

I traded Oil for Hit Singles to our buddy JC and started to move some troops toward Monty...

We have some troops ready to make the big jump... at these 2 targets I am guessing....

I suggest simply razing the hell out of monty...

I havent seen one offensive move from monty or from Cyrus... Bring the votes home to dady Armstrong ;)

Armstrong that makes you up and we only need 8 votes so use that hammer and motivate some growth....... JC is voting for us BTW and maybe we can coax into war again but don't need to.

No need to encourage more growth. I think the next vote will be for Sec General again.

The vote after that we can have razed both targets and there will not be enough votes to stop us... (I hope ;) )

We gained 2 votes but the "required" votes grew by 4... So we are 2 in the hole...
If we can raze both targets I think the "required" votes will drop sufficiently for us to win... I think getting a win in the next set should be easy... In particular since we have some Tanks and Monty doesnt seem to have Rail yet... I also planned some bombers and fighters after picking up flight... As well as a Carrier or 2... Those offcourse can be cancelled if Armstrong (Named after the famous biker??) thinks he dont need no stinking planes?!!

Also I put 1 or 2 cities op perpetual builds for IIRC Tanks and Artillaries...

You must have been complacent, thinking we would sure win. Why I push for the warring route is partly because I fear that might happen (yeah, right, easy for me to say that in retrospect!!! ;)). Because HC just got out of a war finish assimilating MM's land, he is bound to grow rapidly, even if we had emphasize on growth, we couldn't have out-grow HC initially, hence we need to hammer Monty down.

Look at the votes, we only managed to hammer 1 vote off Monty, whereas HC grow by 6 votes!!! (and total votes go up by 7).

Anyway, good job getting our troops in place, I am sure armstrong would have a good time!
