This keeps flashing in the bottom left corner of my screen whenever I am on CFC. This started yesterday, and is very annoying.

Don't ask for a screenshot, because it comes and goes too fast.

I am also having trouble with my Alerts, as they only work once per page. If I want to look at them again, I have to look at a different page.

This is the only website that I have this problem with. The other XenForo forum I belong to doesn't have this issue.

EDIT: I can't get into my account or inbox now, either. At least not consistently.

I'm using a Windows 10 laptop, browser is Opera.

I don't see a common factor with the above issues. I suggest trying any of the followings steps that you haven't already taken:
  • Clear your browser cache
  • Delete your CFC cookies
  • Restart your browser and/or laptop
  • Use a different browser to see if the symptoms still occur (you should have either Edge or IE)
If none of this helps, have you changed anything recently on your system (installed new programs, updated drivers, installed browser addons, etc.)? Can you use a different computer, to see if the symptoms still take place?

Please post again if none of this helps.

The only thing that happened lately is an update, a couple of days ago, and some issues with one of my gaming websites (just happened yesterday; I haven't heard back regarding my support ticket). As I said, this is the only site I'm having this problem with. Now the blue Facebook icon at the bottom left is blinking at me.

I'll try another browser. The laptop has already been turned off and restarted and it didn't help.

I suggest Mozilla Firefox + Privacy Badger + µBlock.

I've discovered this problem isn't a problem with Firefox. But since everything else I'm doing at present uses Opera, it's a bit inconvenient to have one browser open only for CFC.

I've never heard of Privacy Badger. What is it?

I believe there might be a related issue. Since when do we have Tweeter and FB "share this page" integration on the forums?

It's been there for a long time, but only recently became a problem for me. I used to have them blocked (this is doable with Ghostery), but I've been active on FB for the past few months, so I kept it unblocked.

Dunno what it is about CFC; twice in the past two weeks, someone's post has ended up in the spam folder and marked "suspicious" and of course this issue with FB.

It seems to be somewhat cleared up for now; at least I can get my alerts taken care of without having to do each one on a new page. I'm not sure why, though, and have no idea why the issue happened in the first place. This is the only site this has ever happened at.

Its great that this was resolved, I was thinking it might have had something to do with new features on FB or Twitter. Totally missed when "Share This Page" became a thing tough

Yes, I'm not happy with the idea that someone could share the whole page without the consent of everyone posting on it. There are some times when some really personal things get said in OT.

I just wish I knew what happened to resolve it, and why it happened in the first place. I have no idea. :dunno:

I could not agree with you more, there's a reason why we're not on one website, but on a multitude of specialised forums and sites. This button opens a whole new can of worms where CFC becomes a lot more blurred with the rest of the internet. I'm sure people who thought of it had the best intentions though.

It is an add-on for Firefox that tends to block the same stuff as µBlock does (because, e.g., there's re-post to Twitter! buttons everywhere, so it's a hit for both blockers), but sometimes it blocks other stuff. Totally worth it in terms of memory usage and so on.

I wouldn't be sure of the good intentions. There's a lot of evolution in Internet culture and (lack of) privacy happening because people do things to see whether they work and/or whether they can get away with doing them (e.g. Google photographing the entire planet and stealing people's passwords with the StreetView thing).

Happy goldfish bowl for everyone!

Best intentions, baloney. I just noticed that these buttons are also on people's profile pages. Apparently you can 'share' someone's CFC profile page on Twitter or Facebook and there doesn't appear to be any way for them to give or refuse consent.

This isn't right. @Petek, @Camikaze: Is there a way to disable this on the profile pages? I don't want anyone sharing my profile information without consent, and I'm sure others wouldn't want that, either.

Either it's visible already anyways, or it's not. This is not in any way different to just copying the link to your profile on twitter.
I was going to say that, but it seems like an unnecessary doubling of efforts. I don't really understand why. Oh well...
