Wake, Russia!

Final chapters will start going up next Saturday or Sunday. I'm going to be on vacation. So, without further adieu....

Trailer

[Scene: Ottoman miners are returning home from the mines after working a graveyard shift. Another group of miners are heading to the mines. The weather is cold; the weatherman says it'll snow any day now. It's colder than usual because of the small nuclear winter. The miners all ran into the mines when the bombs dropped and survived for it. One man is carrying a radio blaring out where the fallout is heavy.

Then air raid sirens start blaring.]

RADIO
Remain calm and head to the nearest bomb shelter.

[The miners rushed to find their families or escape deep into the mine. The luxury of having time between when the bombs fly and when they go off is gone. It's public knowledge that the Russians would use Konya, once a thriving Ottoman city, as a base for the next strikes.

Soon, the earth shook but lightly. The bomb, thankfully, detonated far away. Edrine? The radio is saying Edrine and Istanbul were struck. One miner, a former soldier, swore.]

MINER

They probably struck our guided missile launchers and airbases.

[He was of course right. Guided missiles were the only thing Ottomans had left. The former soldier started to rally the miners. An invasion fleet must be on the way. A group of Iroquois stopped the Ottomans at the mine entrance.

IROQUOIS #1

We're afraid we can't let you go home.

MINER

What are you talking about?

IROQUOIS #2

You three. [He picks out three other Iroquois]. Go into town, get all the guns.

MINER #2

Wait, what? What!?

[The Iroquois pull out blue cloth and wrap it around their arms.]

IROQUOIS #1

Your people invaded our homeland and tried to destroy our culture. We once thought the great Ottoman Empire was too powerful to challenge but the Russians have The Bomb. The War was only six years ago and the military was pushed to the brink by the end of it. We waited for the second round. A chance to rise up against the oppressor and now-

[A loud mechanical whine crescendos. Both the Ottomans and the Iroquois in the mines stare at each other in confusion. Iroquois #2 says he'll be right back and runs to the mouth of the mine to look at the town. When he returns, his face is pale.]

IROQUOIS #2

I-I-I never seen anything so terrifying.

IROQUOIS #1

The invasion fleet landed near town! The Revolution is near!

IROQUOIS #2

You haven't seen what the invasion fleet is.

[Iroquois #2 leads #1 to the mouth of the cave. Large, monstrous men walked through town and smaller men surrounded them. Occasionally, a pop would ring from a window and the monster would turn on the building the gunfire came from and fire a bright blue beam through the window, causing the building to explode.]

IROQUOIS #1

The Revolution needs one of those.

IROQUOIS #2

Shouldn't be a problem. They have hundreds.

End Game

The Russians went to Alpha Centauri. The Russians detonated the first atomic and nuclear weapons. The Russians proved themselves masters of war. What else could they bring to the table? The question was answered when the Final War broke out. Garuda-Darr Russes, GDRs are the result of decades of research. Fusion-powered, able to beat modern armor in a race, heavily armored, and with the deadliest arsenal of weapons available, GDRs quickly became the symbol of Russian industrial might and blurred the line between powered-armor and mecha. Two GDR units landed near Osinikia. A third unit was destroyed by shore defenses and Ottoman Destroyers.

Near Ankara, an Ottoman Destroyer is sunk by a guided missile launched from Typhoon-class nuclear submarine (TCNS). Far to the south, Diyarbakir is placed under constant artillery bombardment. Paratroopers based in Konya land in the radiated hellzone around Istanbul. A massive naval battle is underway between Konya and Istanbul but the Russians have the material advantage over their under-supplied, outnumbered adversary.

The fortress city, Bursa, falls to a GDR unit....
-----------

The Garrison Commander of Edrine sorts through the messages. Bursa has fallen. Russians have landed in the General Government area and reports of Iroquois irregulars attacking Ottoman supply units is becoming more and more common. Soon, the Garrison Commander will receive confirmation that Istanbul has fallen and Onondaga has been hit with a nuclear device. The Iroquois Uprising is over in a second.

The war isn't over officially but the writing is on the wall....
