Want an easy way to play Civ V online? Say hello to Giant Multiplayer Robot! (GMR)

Thanks Onan :)

I worked some "magic" for you, reverting back to Islandia and then playing his turn for him. It's back to you and Michael is set in the game properly. I tested the save file for your turn and it loads on my computer. Fingers crossed it works for you :)

I tried to load it, but ctd. I've been skipped, we'll see what happens next round. I only tried once, I was tired, and it was after I'd played another save. I had seven lined up last night, of which four worked.

I do remember some discussion some time ago about a 'memory leak' in civ, I wonder if that might contribute to performance issues, especially when loading multiple saves.

Just had a tiny thought about the GMR site. When you are the host and you make changes in your game such as a revert, does it have to redirect you to "my games"? Is there any reason why you cant stay on the same site and just have it updated (F5'ed)?
I guess its fine, but slightly annoying if you need to revert multiple steps.

That's a great idea! I'll implement it in our next update to the website :)

Hi, Mel,
Is it possible to revert a game 5 turns back? The game auto skipped 2 turns when the host of this game set himself to vacation mode several weeks ago and we want to revert it back to 5 turns earlier from its current turn. Thank you.

Alright, let me know if that looks good or if it needs more reverting.

I get a CTD everytime I try to load this game:

We tried reverting, I tried evewry way to doawnload the save, but no play :(

Help us, you are our only hope!

I'm sorry, I wish I had the magic button to fix these CTD issues. Another GMR user has found moderate success loading some games by closing all other programs, running CiV in DX9 and turning all the graphic settings to the lowest. Maybe you could try something similar?

Also please email me your system specs so that I can use them in a report we're trying to put together for Firaxis. Thanks :)

I did try to lower the graphic and using DX9 and the only program I use beside Civ is my anti-virus.

Ill send the specs!

What usually works for me is closing CiV and downloading the file from the webpage.

Hey guys, sorry I've been a little unavailable lately, I'll take a look at your games as soon as I get a chance today or tomorrow. In the meantime I've got some news:

We released a major update to the GMR website today that includes a redesign of the location and behavior of our 'My Games', 'Public Games', and 'Game Details' pages and makes room for our upcoming community features. Given the impact of this update please share with us your feedback or any bugs you may find. Included in this update are several smaller enhancements to interacting with game pages:

- You may now filter the Public Games list by In-Progress or Not-Started and sort the games by several options
- Game name links will now respond better to middle-click (not in Chrome)
- Several minor performance tweaks and enhancements

I noticed the change on the site, but it's giving me a problem, or something is, at least. Now when I go click on "My Games" it won't let me go there, but it just reloads back to the same page.Is anyone else having this problem?

I can still play my turns with the app, though.

I am experiencing the same problem :(

Here are a few things to try: hard refresh the page several times (F5) to make sure you get the latest js and css files and aren't running on cached copies. Try disabling AdBlock or similar for the GMR website. And of course, make sure you're running the latest version of your browser of choice. See if something along those lines help :)
