So it seems like the version number on the DirectX selection dialog is for DirectX itself and not really CiV? Is that what you're suggesting EEE? If that's the case I wonder if installing latest DirectX from Microsoft would make any difference

Yes, that's what I think. But why you got 6.2.xxxx something?
My friends and I started up a private game to test this new service out, however one of the friends is having some issues with getting the GMR application to connect to the server (possibly a firewall issue? - the only weird thing about his setup is that he's using Windows 7 enterprise edition).
In any case, the rest of us are impatient - is there a way that we can start up a game and have him skipped (AI takeover) for a few turns then allow him to jump back in once he's troubleshooted the problem?
Thanks!
Hi Mel. Can you take a look at this game for me:

Getting CTD. Tried a few reverts as well as downloading from the website. Nothing helps.![]()
My version is 6.1.7601
CiV version is the same.
Edit: just checked from MS website, the version is the latest.
@Onan: maybe you should update your DX9 from MS website? It could be one of the problems in multisession games.
Sorry Michael, my computer here at work is being kind of finicky about loading some games. I'll try to figure this out when I get home tonight.
Hi GMR admin, could you please help us manually drop the host in this game when you are free?

He set himself in vacation mode and never came back, even until defeated. Thank you very much!
By the way, if we can have a voting mechanism just to vote down the host in case like that, would be perfect![]()
Alright, I've subbed you in as the host EEE, let me know if there's anything else I can help you with. A voting mechanism for these kind of things would definitely be nice!![]()
I don't know if anyone has suggested it before(I'm sorry, but 40+ pages of 3d are too much for me to read XD) but there is something that has bugging me for a while...
Big, long games tend to grow into very big savefiles. This is a fact. These big savefiles become more and more difficult to download and(especially) to upload back. Wouldn't it be possible to compress them ? The website itself could do that before the download, while the GMR application would have to before uploading.
A very quick test with a 3MB save reduced it to 556kB with basic zip compression. Better algorithms(7-Zip?) could possibly do even better. Might be worth a look at![]()
Hey Klion, that's a really great idea (I do remember someone suggesting it once), I'll look into implementing it for our client/server file transferring.![]()
Hi, Mel, I noticed that the option is gone to disable starting CiV when clicking new turn to play.
Could it be possible that the crash is more due to this that CiV is trying to start while loading? Thank you.
