Ive also put in some flavourful descriptions of the Colleges. this is where im drawing the ideas for the designs from.

check the fist post for the link

Thanks ploe. im putting them into the Spell Mod :) im struggling with transparencies on the Light college, and i cant get flames on the Bright college, and cant decide on a design for the gold college. they should be done soon though :)

For Flames I know no other way than to recycle existing effects and attach them via nifviewer atm. what exactly is your problem with transparencies?

i just cant get the walls of the pyramid on the light college to go Semi transparent in some places. (i also want to add light effects inside it so it appears to glow, but not sure if thats possible).

For some reason, my nifScope stopped working the other day :( and nifViewer never worked for me. im going to reinstall it to see if that fixes the problem :)

Nifviewer never worked with my new Ati card. If you want transparencies, there is an other way if you don't want to use alpha. You can only copy the material propriety of a transparent thing (for exemple, the visor of my The Forge LH used in Final Frontier. It is orange transparent, but you can change the material proriety to make it the color that you want) Howerer, you can't have multiple material per object, so you will have to split the transparent area into an other object and the textured area into an other.

Ah, well that explains why Nifviewer never worked for me. ive got an ATI too.

so if i did that with my Light college i would have to have 2 overlapping pyramids?

It depends how your pyramid is supose to be. If all the bulding is transparent, than only one object is fine. If you have transparent section and textured section, than you need two objects with different material.

This is the light college:

the whole of the pyramid is supposed to be partially transparent. the bottom top and edges less so.

Well, my method won't work if must have a texture. You'll have to go with alpha channel. If you send me the files, I can try.

:bump: hows that Transparency going C.Roland ? :mischief:

Sorry for the delay.

I investigated the thing and I didn't reach any sucess. The alpha channel is very buggy in civ4. Something it display the thing behind the transparend face, sometime not. I know that rabbit white made a lot of test also on the subject, maybe he know better, but he seems inactive. Maybe you can try to ask him. If I find something I'll PM you, but my last test aren't really sucesfull.

I'ld be interested in what you learn about the buggy alpha too. winddelay and I have been trying to find a good way to implement the alpha on units with little success, as you can see right through the entire unit instead of just through the individual section.

I did just have a thought...Have you tried using 2 seperate meshes (a top layer that uses the alpha and a bottom layer that does not use the alpha)?

If you want to have a mesh two sided, you need a stencil propriety. Horewer, alpha is still buggy so sometime you saw the interior, sometime not.

UPDATE:

hey everyone, ive updated al lthe download links and fixed them since the hacker killed them all. i also added in the Light College and Cathayan Palace.

im also working on some Units, and posted progress pics in the third post :)
