Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.0

hey ED i'd just like to say that this is a great mod. some people are idoits and i feel some of ur frustration, mods take months and years to make. i tell u and ur team put tons of work in this mod... so thank you all, and apologies for all those people that have never made thier own mod and are dumb!

@webrider - ok, like i said before, at the time when i made my original post, i thought it was a bug, if you look back over the past few pages in this thread, youll see where im not the only person who reported the same/similair types of problems with this mod. do you think that those people knew there were differing versions of civ3/c3c being sold in different areas?. doubt it. isnt reporting things like this, a contribution?, that way, if its a fixable problem, the creator can fix it? and like i said before, if i took ED's original post out of context to be annoyance at some one reporting what they thought was a bug, then i apologize...to ED. not to you or any one else who took my original post out of context. enough said. next topic.

I just finnished a vamp game, (well I stopped when I knew I'd win). I had plenty of Black Knights of the simple reason that I had to transport my troops over water, and once you've researched vampire-lords you can't build normal vamps and vampire-lords can't be transported. I had no choice but to ditch the vamps.

omg.. i had no idea that vamp lords can't be transported.....!!!

EDIT: and now that i've got caught up on the posts... I gues they can? Have to go in game and make sure.. but ED said they did :)

Hey Azalel i think he was annoyed because you hadnt actually read the pages before and his previous replies. No one really gives a damm if you cant be bothered to fix the problem others already have and move on to other mods. You know what why dont you go make your own 500Mb mod which as god dammed good (hope i dont get banned for that) and see people complain about something which has already been asked and responded to and isnt really a bug. Hell i know i cant make a mod but im making maps. For people to play on until the real stuff starts coming from the messiah of Mods ED.

No matter what some people think ED you hav made the best Civ 3 mod ever and i hope to see youwhen civ 4 comes out making an even better one with religion. (All Hail Tzeentch Lord Of Change).

Hey if civs which would normally be annoyed with each other change their attitude if in a locked alliance. If not can i manually change attitude?

I don't know if they'll change their attitude in a locked alliance, but in case they don't you could allways change their fav. government in the edit civilizations tab - should be no problem since most civs don't have another government than the one they're supposed to have. I just guess changing vampiric factions fav. government to monarchy would cause them to never change to undead state, which would mess things up a *little*.

Btw - @ED: I think making a thread called WH2 maps/scenarios would be great, so everyone could upload their maps with some description, so they'd all be in one spot and people only chose the ones they're interested in, rather than downloading some huge pack which messes up the lucidity in the scenarios menu. Just a suggestion - I wont do it since I think it should be something official (besides opening a thread with one rushed map would be quite ridiculuos :crazyeye: )...

Yea i was going to ask whether you werer going to make a ScenariosThread to post them i the Complete Scenarios section or just post them here anyway it doesnt matter. There should be a way to choose which ones you want. Thaks for your help Billy.

Here it is I hope you like. Its my first and hopefully not my last. Araby is the only Civ missing load time is about 45 seconds. Every town can sustain itself though many cant grow at moment. War hasnt been declared. The only civ made things placed are roads and fortificaitons on the land borders between good and evil have been. The board is set time to move the pieces.

So there are no Chaos trees in Warhammer :( Too bad.

Also ED, could you please upload the correct version at CDG. I think its still got the Slann-mage bugs in it.

Restarted a third game, now as Chaos. Shouldn't Chaos workers thoug be setup with a defence of 1 so they can't be captured?

Chaos is mostly barbarians, so chaos workers are normal humans...

I hope to prepare a new patch for today then I'll upload it to CDG. I hoping to get a certain PM answer atm ;)

All talk about marshes and swamplands aside (although I'm sure if I weren't so lazy as to go back enough pages someone likely said something fascinating and educational that corrects me....or some dogpiling happened....or everyone ignored me :(), after a good week of play it's clear the mod is of impeccable quality. Any objections I have are all pretty much small cosmetic things according to my personal tastes, and even a 100 man development team can't get everything perfect for every person! Well, that and the horrible Civ III random map generation, but that's not your fault, and I almost die in my chair when I get a good map to play on and don't stop. Sometimes I like playing as Ironclaw Orcs and building nothing but Black Orc Infantry. Why? Because to be honest, nothing says 'unstoppable horde' better than hundreds of pure bred Black Orc units rolling inexorably across the map, crushing everything in sight and screaming 'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!' all the way. And the Tileans. The amount of money you can make in one city is beyond obscene. Capital city jutted out into the sea with The Suiddock, The Moot, The Silk Road, The Grand Bazaar and a couple pearls dotted about. I had lots of other cities, but the completely unstoppable economic might of that city was what really mashed everything/one underfoot. Blitzkreig with Bretonnians, the (almost literal) meatgrinder of the undead factions, naked Amazon chicks (yeah, yeah, shut up. You know you were disappointed when the final upgrade of the amazon warrior gave her a cuirass!), building a Slann city anyplace I damn well please because I don't need strategic resources!

If you ever feel down, think of this. It took dozens of men and women to create the steamer that is Daikatana, in a third of the time you produced this....and far more people would buy it. :p

I'm gonna get you for that. All Hail Nurgle Lord Of Decay. But I agree, this is the best MOD ever. It's much better than civ itself. Every civ has it's unique feel and unique units. It's A - M - A - Z - I - N - G and being a WH-buff this kicks ass. Now I've played Reikland, Slann, Count Dracula and Wood Elf. Every civ has become a learning experience and all have unique abilities that needs to be exploited to win, that is what my deffinition of a good CIV-mod is all about. If I was Azazel I would sit up all night and fix the filestructure 'cause it's just simply worth it.

Now this is enough kissing ass. Now I'm going to give the dwarves a go.

edit: I don't know if it's a bug but when I was playing vamps I couldn't uppgrade to ghostship even though I had researched them.

In the first game of 2.0 that I played, an enemy Dark Elf city built the Great Forge and the Chaos wonder that doubles production. And about six other wonders. Now that was a scary city...

I'd never really considered how monsterously industrious a city can become. Never managed what you describe there as a chaotic faction. It's far easier to make a shedload of money than shields. I'm playing a Bretonnian faction on measly Cheiftan at the mo....possibility here to get the Silk Road, Spice Road, Moot and Bazaar all in one city. I just like seeing the long lines of coins on all my city squares. I need help. :(

Oh yes, I did manage to build an S-route and the Moot in one city, that was great (During a Golden Age too) :D

Now, I know that i've already thanked you, but that was only after a few days of play. Now i've had a week I can see why this was delayed for the few extra months, and I'm happy that it was.
It's the simple fact that every civ is unique, and they all seem to have the right aspect.
I just played with Amazon, and was just expecting a normal human play.
How wrong was I.
Very hard early units, Wow, I thought, this is going to be easy, but then no siege units, No magic units. It means that they are not as hard later on, but do keep the indivual feel
But, after having over 200 fights (slan look scary, but cannot beat my women :D ) , and still not getting a leader  I then get picked on by 3 other civs at same time.
At least it means I can now see hw individual the other civs are.
So, once again, Thank you, the only game I play now.

@Tyrion: Nice one, but I just wanted to tell you that you mentioned locked alliances in the description, but there are none (had none in the game and checked the editor...) - changed you mind or did you UL the wrong version?

@the "ass kissing" posters: How right you all are :D - but if I tried to mention everything I love about this mod it would be allmost a complete description. At first I was sceptical about some things being unbalanced, but there are so many extreme things in the mod that it all balances again in the end. I just love these extreme cities (even when they're owned by my enemies) or stuff like a few liches landing on my shores making me think "oh - just another of these laughable naval AI invasions" and then see them giving me a hard time by creating quite a lot of skeletal minions out of my spearmen.
I got Doom 3 the same day as this mod, but I allmost exclusively played WH2 (and I'm a fan of the Doom series since part 1...).

Oh - and just a quick note to everyone who downloaded my map for 2.01: Unfortunately, I forgot a few changes I made in the 2.0 version which got removed by importing it to 2.01. I.e. allowing timber in jungles, so now, a few factions can't build their "mahagoni-boats" unless they acquire it elsewhere and Nippon lack their main trading ressource which is spice I put in forests because jungle didn't fit into Nippon imho (but still wanted them to sell Teriyaki - now indic curry will have to do:D). So the gameplay on that map is not quite as I intended it - sorry :(.
Anyway - I finished a game on the "buggy" version and still had a blast. Fixed it in between, but I'll wait for the next patch to upload a fixed version using the new patches rules...

hmm it should of had Locked alliances ill fix that when i get home. Thanks for letting me know.

Just curious, is there still a vanilla version of this mod? I only have vanilla Civ 3 and I really want his mod :(. I thought that version 1.0 was for vanilla Civ 3, but i dont see a link for it...anybody know?

Aza wrote: Maybe more work/research needed to be done on this mod before releaseing it then, correct me if im wrong,

So I corrected him/her :) and explained my position in my correction.

Yes this is the most fun I have had since the first few games when I was first exposed to the Civ line. Posting bugs is good. Just remember what we think is a bug may in fact be a limitation of the Civ III engine. Or in some cases a design decision for a reason that makes sense once you think about it. The bugs he fixed in the first patch were all reported bugs or tweaks, so its not the reporting of bugs thats wrong.... It was just I couldn't imagine not releasing this mod .. so I would have to be playing one of my other games instead of this mod :) Its like making CIV III my favorite game all over again. But I prefer the Civ type line over the RTS line. Age of Wonders line would be good but it dosent have the Civ building feel to it the cities are too crummy. So now this mod is the best fantasy game out.

But more importantly, I have figured out how to deal with the crashes people are having with the wav's.

I got the message: "File not found etc..." with the file art\units\emglish pikeman\...\archer\archervicyell.wmv.

What you should do is go to the conquests\scenerios\wh2\art\units\english pikeman folder.

open the folder and then open 'english pikeman configuration settings'.
down at the bottom find under sound effects this:

victory = archvicyell.wmv

then just erease the archvicyell after the =.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Repeat infinitum ad nauseum. *phew*. For a moment I thought I had a corrupt install...
