Hmmm... that's weird...
As far as I would see it the highlander should propably upgrade to foot knight. But it might also be so, that they were designed not to upgrade, since foot knight is a knightey-unit, not basically a foot soldier... uh. I wonder what mrtn thinks of that.

But anyways, that was a good call-out :)

Welcome to CFC :wavey:
Make sure you have extracted all the files into correct location (..\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\... and the leaderhead-animations should be in ...\Civilization III\Conquests\Net Art\Flics)
Everything should work that way... :)

I think that embryodead designed it that way. The Foot Knight is a knighty unit, the Highlander is infantryish.

aaglo, what do you think about having the Fen Beast as a knightish unit? I e about the same stats, but available at one of the magical techs instead. I have to check the Albionese tech tree, but maybe at Elementalism?

Well, something needs to be changed. The Highlander has its Upgrades To: set to the Foot Knight - and the Civilopedia says that it upgrades to the Foot Knight, too.

But if the "upgrades to" is removed, then the Albion still could build highlanders (altough I don't know why they would do it, since they can build foot knights...)

Fen Beast as a knight ;) :p
Well, why not. Should it be fast (Movement 2), +1 HP (or not), free movement in swamps & jungles (and maybe forests & hills too). Sounds like fun magical unit ;)

I`d give it 1 movement (looks kinda slow), but free movement in jungles & swamps. +1 HP sounds good, its a magical creature, I think it would be hard to kill with normal weapons (a sword would go trough it, but since its made of mud `n stuff, there wouldn`t be much damage)

Elementalism, or Nature lore?

It moves 6 inches in WFB, so move 2 is correct. And it helps Albion with a much needed fast unit, their biggest problem IMO is that they don't have a fast second attacker.

Is 6 inches the normal "speed" of fast units, or is it just faster than slow units, infantry and such?

Because in WHFB battles occurr on relatively small distances, and in Civ speed determines how fast will the unit travel long distances, so if the Fen beast is a sprinter it should have a movement of 1. Jungle and swamp will give Albion a nice advantage already, don`t you think?

Normal human movement is 4
Dwarves move 3
Skaven move 5 - some even 6
Horses move 8
Elven steeds move 9
Beastmen move 5 - some even 6
wolves move 9

But in the end which worries me a bit, is that giants and ogres move 6 - which should mean that they have 2 MP's in civ3... but I guess that's just for gameplay reasons :)

As Albion already have 8.6.1 and 12.6.1 units, I don't see a reason to give them yet another move 1 unit.
And you can't give free movement to a unit in a specific terrain, just let it ignore movement cost, i e it costs one. Which isn't very good if the unit moves one, then it's only good for armies.

Oohhhh, I see now. You want to make the Highlander become obsolete eventually, but not upgrade to anything. Well, okay. But maybe you should consider giving the Highlander some kind of an advantage over the Foot Knight (besides being ever so slightly cheaper), so you won't have to make it become obsolete, and then the Civilopedia won't confuse people like me on that issue.

I still cant seem to get this to work right sofar this is what i have. 2.0 and 2.02 goes in /programs/infogames interactive/civ 3/conquests 2.11 and 2.20 go in /programs/infogames interactive/civ3/conquests/Scenarios\

I hereby suggest dwarves should have only 1/2 movement, moving only once every two turns. Make it happen, guys. :)

I was thinking again about the High Elves the other day (I have a soft spot for the pointy eared ones you see) and it occured to me what was really bugging me as I played through the game. I never built any archers, for the simple reason that: they are pants. 6-2-2? When you compare them to Marksmen, Heavy Archers or Crossbowmen, which all have attack 9, you see how pants they are. Elven armies should be dominated by archers and spearmen, so I humbly request an upgrade in the second age for the Elven Archer for the next patch with attack 9 or 10. The game would move much more into line with the WH background if the elves had something to build in the late game that wasn't 1 - a dragon, or 2 - an ogre.

BTW if this should be in the development thread then let me know, I wasn't sure which one to post in.

What would that be then? An archer upgrading to an archer? Why would the second be so much better? I'm not ruling it out yet, but I'm not convinced either.
