Warhound Titans (30th June 2004)

Looks class obviously :goodjob: The attack anims are also great now.

You're right about BeBro's XCom troops animations, I wouldn't use them myself either (they didn't stop me playing the XCom mod though, which as a whole was one the best mods/scenarios for Civ3 I played, the best "complete" one for sure), though your female warriors have the same problem :p Generally for humanoid units, Poser owns.

I wish you would spend time on units I could use... Like tge Fictional Sand Rat Carthiginian Tank.

Here is a... um.. Techical sketch I made...

And some info:
The Leptis Magna Munition Works (LMMW) 21 'Sand Rat' Battle Tank
The Sand Rat Program Began in 1935 to Produce a Main Battle Tank that was geared for a Desert Enviroment But could be operated in other Climes. The Sand Rat is Unique becase it has a very low profile;all MAchinery is stored in the long thin turret. The Sand Rat aslo has removeable Armor plating over the treads that not only protected them from enemy fire but from sand as well.
The Sand Rat servbed faithfully with the Carthaginain Army untill 1952, when it was repaced by the LMMW-27.The Thing coming off the back is the Exhaust pipe, not a gun.

....I mean, you made and Animated these Titans Really fast and it wouldn't take too long...

Nope ... Leman Russ battle tank :D

^awesome

Warhound- also awesome

Do you think you'll ever get into making units for other races? Preferably the Tau?

Muffins, even though i could never use these units lol they are amazing, and im wondering how the heck you got good at makeing units so fast! you make it look easy lol :D do you use PS8? what do you use and how did you get good at it so fast, what tutorials did you use??? lol sorry for asking so many questions, just wondering what to do if i wanted to try my hand at unit making. thanks.

LOL Goldflash :D thats an AWESOME picture, almost as good as my corn chucker art groucho very nice, and i would agree, any units that arent future age would be more to my advantage. i mean even a COUPLE regular units here and there lol. anyway good job and dont miss myk previous post!

Here's what an Imperial Leman Russ looks like. It'll have three attacks (heavy bolters on the sides, turret mounted battle-cannon, hull mounted lascannon) but people wanting to use the unit as a 20th century tank will be able to edit the ini to remove the animation references to the lascannon attack :D

Corn Chucker - I got good so fast by learning the hard way - obsessive unit creation for a month and trial by error :goodjob:

I use OpenFX Designer to create the models and insert the skeleton

OpenFX Animator to animate and render to small bitmaps

A bulk rename utility (called BRU) to rename the hundreds of frames so that they're all numbered correctly for use with Steph's SBB (Story Board Builder)

I then create a custom palette from an old civ-unit palette with Paint Shop Pro 7 and then add the EXACT colours to it from the frames with a palette editor called PEdit

I then use Steph's SBB to create bitmap storyboards from the frames.

Then I create blank storyboards with FLICster in pcx format

I then open one of the blank pcx storyboards in Paint Shop Pro and load the new palette, remembering to maintain indexes (colour order in the palette)

Then I open up a bitmap storyboard that Steph's SBB generated and also load the new palette, this time using nearest colour diffusion

It's then a simple copy and paste job of the bitmap storyboard into the pcx storyboard.

I then save the pcx storyboard and then open it with FLICster and check the anti-aliasing, shadows and civ-colour are all ok. I then set the animation speed and export a civ-flic from FLICster

Once all the storyboards are exported to civ-flics I just stick them in a folder and zip them up, ready to upload to civfanatics.

It's easier than it sounds once you've been doing it for a while :p

Even for people without any artistic talent... like me?
3d modeling is easy, if you want to take the 4-8 hours or so it takes to do the tutorials, and understand them.

I'm releasing all my Warhammer models :D

You can do whatever you want with them - I've finished with them :goodjob:

I'll post all the models in their unit thread for ease

I'll post MFX (OpenFX models) and 3DS versions so that most people can use them. They have skeletons but I don't know if exporting to 3DS retains them.

EDIT - Models removed to save attachment space :p

Oh!!! Ah!!! I like the second one b/c of it's plasma cannon
