June 21st: The Summer war
Joseph Stalin has recently ordered the invasion of Finland. While the KGB announced rapid success, the initial days showed little progress, and even advancement on the Finnish side, even to the point of them capturing Leningrad. However, once planes were freed up from the Polish War, heavy bombing has weakened the Finns. Swedish Aid has greatly helped Finland in forms of troops and cash, but the Finnish army is in peril. The Finnish army is holding on to Vipuri, their strongest defensive point, but they are in danger of being surrounded, as Soviet positions are in range of Helsinki. While the government has been relocated to Tampere, it would be fatal to lose Helsinki, but even more fatal to lose Vipuri, the last fortress against Soviet Russia. Luckily for the Finns though, Finnish resistance is high and could slow down the invaders quite a bit.

On the other side though, the Italian offensive from Ethiopia has had astounding success, and has met nearly no resistance,

July 14th: Successor named
On Bastille Day in France, Phillipe Peitran has declared that his successor to the Presidency of France will be current Prime Minister Jacques Doriot. This has caused relief for Fascist French, while they do feel that Peitran has saved what little dignity the French military had left if they fought Germany, they are also aware of his age and are glad someone will be able to take the mantle once their hero is dead.
July 17th: Spanish Civil War
With the rest of the world in madness, Spain too has joined by exploding into Civil War, between the Fascist Nationalist Spain and the Communist republican Spain. While most nations have been to focused on the other conflicts in Europe, not many have been able to send aid in to either side. This has worked to the Republicans advantage, as their army has far more modern weaponry and training, while the Nationalists don’t even have an air force. Soviet bombers have even aided the Republican war effort, and most experts say this war will not last until the New Year.
