Was Jesus a hippie?

- Did not embrace any sort of sexual revolution (he was a virgin, right?)

According to gospels christians want to forget, he sometimes spent the night naked or very thinly dressed with young men.

He was also peace loving like most hippies. And he didn't have a permanent job.

Im guessing thats not in any officially sanctioned christian literature where can i read about that?

How do you know he didn't have long hair?

Long hair was probably uncommon for Palestinian males in the 1st century. We associate it with Jesus because of the way he was portrayed in the Middle Ages, as a man with long hair.

Of course he wasn't a hippie, last time I checked there was no great desire to save the Redwoods in the Levant, stop the invasion of Vietnam, legalize all the drugs that are so good and yet so baaaad, in the Middle East during the 1st century A.D.

It's somewhat unlikely that he owned any shoes.

LOL

He came from the upper middle class and recieved a rare formal religous trainning including learning to read and right. He father a carpenter whom worked with wood which was considered a expensive material. Jesus historically would have been a healer and teacher.

Probably? When were scissors invented?

Jesus was a conservative historically hes hair cut would have been conservative style. From roman mosiac this could have been a medium cut with slight shaved bead. Which was prodomeniante during the roman empire and its citizens.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present to you the Messiah of our times; a latter-day Jesus of a latter-kind Second Coming.

Carpenter is a bit of a mistranslation; "workman" would be better. Regardless of his roots, he had devoted himself to poverty during his ministry.

Because those writings are clearly from those who did not know who Jesus was and written many centuries after he lived, not a good source to be basing anything on.

Ziggy, please, be charitable. The gospels were written several decades after the fact, not centuries. Other than that, go to town.
Ok, lets start in the Beginning.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and he did it in the dark. This made God ultra cool in my book. I'm actually building a wall in broad daylight, and having to redo a fair bit of it. :(

When was that part written?

You guys seem a little unaware of what a hippie is. Jesus was kind of a hippie. He was all into seeing past the illusion of society and getting the big picture and loving one another, man.

No, you fluffy bunnies, Jesus preached fire, and brimstone, and Hell:mad:

Possible but unlikely given the monetary and class barriers. We have virtually no details of Jesus childhood most historians go by records of what was the "norm" to fill in the gaps.

Later life of poverty and healing would be pretty accurate given how "radical" hes teachings were they would have put him at odds with the powerful and rich religous order.
