Watching the eclipse?

I'll set 'em up; you knock 'em down. :)
Well, yeah, you were trying to be wry and understated, but I don't think it's a joke unless every last person in the house gets it. YA SEE . . .

Actually, the photo was meant to be the premise for a limerick, but then I got too tired to complete it. But now I'm full of energy again, so here it is:

There are dolts. There are dorks. There are drips.
There are dunces and dimwits and dips.
But some seek prezeedents
Who are so effing dense
That they'd stare straight into an eclipse.

Well if we're allowing "ee"s, here's mine. :)

Convinced by his own clever lies
Donald Trump looked up to the skies
But his orange pateena
Didn't protect his reteena
And now he has pissholes for eyes.

Bravo to both of you!

Now, do keep in mind that I didn't use my ee to secure an illegitimate rhyme (not that I'm above that if the circumstances are right): dents is a solid rhyme with dense. My ee was just for colloquial pronunciation (and a very subtle prosodic effect).

That said, I like your limericks.

And my ee's were because I can imagine Trump pronouncing words he has never heard (let alone understands) in his own very special, nucular, way. :)

Of course, as soon as I posted it, I realized he would rhyme patina and retina a completely different way!

Well, this whole affair got me to thinking,
With one synapse another one linking.
From observing this guy
I have come to see why
Writers label an idiot "blinking."
