If the US beats or ties the Czechs, I think the Americans advance, to get raped by Brasil.

If the Czechs win, then they'll move on. I think Italy wins the group.

This is a better american side than last WC though, and those guys made the quarters. Pity our draw is murder

pretty unfair statement here. It wasn't as if Korea actually beat Italy, it was clearly the referee. I agree that Italy moans a lot when they lose, but 2002 it was plain awful. I am happy that the referees seem to be quite good this time round.
And, I do hope that all Asian teams get eliminated early so that they finally shut up about deserving more teams in the WC. (and Korea ought to get trashed all the while as a revenge for 2002 )

Maybe we should, but by then, the World Cup should be renamed as Eurocentrics Cup , with cameo appearences from the rest of the world.

Like it or not, it's home advantage in 2002, just as in the past WC where Brazil is the only team to win the WC away from its continent.

History tends to repeat itself, South Korea just doing what North Korea did to Italy in 1966.

Spain gets knock out by host country in almost all WC finals they participate.

Be glad that the Koreans didn't rob the WC in 2002, otherwise it's not just about more teams in the WC .

I am happy that the referees seem to be quite good this time round.

The FIFA hasn't learned their lesson. The refereeing (correct spelling?) at the 2002 WC was awful. Example, the Jamaican referee Prendergast robbed Belgian of a clear goal against Brazil and his abilities to lead big matches was seriously put in question (I suppose he doesn't get to lead many big, important matches in Jamaica). What does the FIFA in 2006? They select Prendergast again as a referee for the WC. Luckily he got injured.

Sepp Blater gives smaller countries representatives in the WC in the form of referees to earn their support in the elections for the presidency of the FIFA. It already suceeded in the past... :thumbdown:

I think the really overrated team in that group is the Czech Republic.
