I've known this forever, but tonight it really just hit me.

We are all exactly the same thing. Everything about you and everything about me is all the same 'stuff'. Ever since the day I was born I have heard people revealing this to me, but I just never really grasped what they were saying until this moment right now. There is nothing separating us from anything else. There is no meaning to anything. We are all just one thing, and that thing just is. It doesn't care if it is aware of this fact, it simply is. And it's isness is a thing which is impossible to talk about. Because it is the very nature of abstractness itself. That is what it is. And that is what I am. That is what we are.

edit: The funny thing is that I am fully aware of how absurd this would sound if I was not in this state of mind. But I am, and as much as possible I am going to spread this knowledge to myself so that it can be retained for as long as possible.

edit: This video explains things perfectly:

Funny how it's been so blindingly obvious to us our whole lives but so completely ridiculous at the same time.

Who says that there "is" anything? That there is some essence to being that persists from one moment into the next? I'm ready to accept that there is not.

How could there not be anything?

There is of course something, and that thing is both of us. In fact the "self" that we identify with everyday is that thing. It is pure conciousness.

drug fuelled premonitions are always the most incomprehensible to sober people on the internet

I didn't say that that nothing exists, but that nothing persistent exists, that nothing is the same from one moment to the next.

Conciousness is just something that flesh does. How can it be "pure"?

But there is still a 'thing' which you claim is not the same from one moment to the next, no? And that thing is all there is.

But what is the flesh made of? ;)

I don't claim that there is a "thing", no, because to label it as such implies persistent identity, which I think only exists in the abstract. All we have at the concrete level are properties, which are not persistent.

But what is the flesh made of? ;)
Fundamentally? Fluctuations in the electron field.

I think we've reached a state of agreement. And this field is the same thing that you have been experieincing your entire life, it is all that has ever been fundamentally there.

What really boggles my mind is how this knowledge is so available to us everyday, yet we go about our lives worrying about things that don't matter. In fact everything about this world, our jobs, our relationships, our posessions, and our thoughts are all just illusions. And that truth is so blindingly obvious yet so ridiculous at the same time.

They're abstractions, but that doesn't mean that they're just illusions. They are, at least some of them, real abstractions: abstractions which structure concrete practice. Is it possible to say that, e.g. my relationship to the state is "just an illusion" when attempting to dispose of this relationship can lead to me being smeared across the pavement?

That is an electromagnetic wave you are describing. Not matter. :)
Well, it's fluctuations in the something-or-other field. Physics really isn't my strong suit. :crazyeye:

Aren't you forgetting natural laws? Is that not a thing from all we can tell?
"Natural laws" are models we have created to describe and predict the behaviour of the natural world. They do not, in themselves, exist.

Your body maybe, but you will still be there. You've always been there because whatever is there is one thing, and that thing has always been there and always will be. I wish I could articulate this to you the way I am currently understanding it but it makes more sense to me than anything else ever has.

I essentially agree.
