What's difference is that it's developed into a subculture which experiences a perverse combination of isolation and exposure, so it's both more obvious and more bizarre than it used to be.

There is of course something, and that thing is both of us. In fact the "self" that we identify with everyday is that thing. It is pure conciousness.

I don't know about England. In the U.S. the global warming conspiracy theory is practically a prerequisite for Republican candidates.
The biggest danger is that real conspiracies have a better chance of being dismissed and allowed to continue because of all the noise generated by baseless claims.
If you are on a list targeted by the CIA you have nothing to worry about. On the other hand, if you have a name similar to someone on a list targeted by the CIA you are dead.
