Women try to take body on plane at Liverpool airport

Police have arrested two women after they tried to take the body of a dead relative onto a plane at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Staff at the airport became suspicious when the women tried to check the man in for a flight to Berlin on Saturday.

The 91-year-old man from Germany is thought to have died the previous day, and had been put into a wheelchair.

The women, aged 41 and 66, were arrested on suspicion of failing to give notification of a death.

They have now been released on bail, police said.

Police are investigating reports that the body had been taken to the airport by taxi from Oldham, a spokesman said.

happens at land borders all the time, because moving a corpse over large distances according to the laws is expensive, and getting the paperwork done to move them across borders takes a ton of time, but i love the idea of actually trying it at an airport.

sigh, why is the government providing money to everyone always the "answer"? Since when is it in the government's job to satisfy poor people's silly religious customs? Funerals are religious based, and have no part in government function. If anything the government should just burn the corpse on the spot.

BBC have reported that the man died about 12 hours before he got to airport.

The two women should be cautioned by the police and that should be the end of it assuming nothing comes up on the 2nd autopsy
