WH Discussion Thread

dang....... i really started a chain reaction

its sad that the the big guys dont want a "southland" civ, thats a cool name for it to by the way, but hey who stoping u guys from doing a senerio which involves this new civ.

Just because there's a couple of places left in the biq doesn't mean that there are any civs left that can/should be added to the mod. However much stuff gets added I still want to have a conservative approach to changing the mod, that's what embryodead wanted.

EDIT: Nevermind all that, nothing was here, just Stormy being dumb. ;) :shake:

I have a new question, how come the Chaos Dwarves don`t use Hobgobbo spearmen made by aaglo?

BTW, I thought you guys might like this  :goodjob:

Mr Do thinks it's important that they use all sorts of greenskins.

As to the ogres I think they work better as they are. I can't think of a good stat line for starting units, it's just too unbalanced.

And Goldflash is reported for spam.

Ah, fair enough :)

If we could come up with a good, balanced stat line, would you like to see them in?

Why couldn`t an Ogre Bull have the swordsman stats, for instance? The swordsman represents a "swordsman regiment of 60 men" for instance, so the the Ogre Bull regiment can count 10 ogres.

I think ogres since ther so big they should have less units than other civs, for instance they would have

warrior: gnoblar fighter- 3/2/1 cost 10 shields

spearman: nothing

swordsman: ogre bull- 7/4/1 cost 70 shields

miltary training unit: some kind of thing pulling a war wagon- 8/3/2 cost 80 shileds

archer: nothing

boat/corcle: a raft thats all they get unless they have a ship or somthing

infantry: nothing

pikeman: Irongut- 8/6/1 cost 80 shields

strategy unit: warlord- 10/5/1 cost 95 shields

somone pick up where i left off i gtg:mad:

aaglo agrees, btw.

That's well and good, but has nothing to with a) whether a balanced unit line could be created or b) if you would be interested in including them if a balanced unit line were concocted. You say you think they work better as they are - but better than what? You have nothing to compare it to at the moment. This thread was started so people could work on developing ideas they liked without you telling them 'don't bother, I won't put it in.' Kindly keep the naysaying at the official thread, where it belongs. :D

That being said, an Ogre unit line isn't utterly impossible, it just would take a little work. Aaglo lost interest in the Ogres a while ago, though the Tyrant is supposedly still on his list, so one can't ask or expect units from him. However, the ability to c&p gnoblars into early archers or stone throwers, and to change the Goblin Fanatic into a scrap thrower might allow for a fuller unit list. And there's examples of Gnoblars riding on top of one another to serve as weak cavalry, too. Also, a Rhino unit was recently released - with a little editing it could make a serviceable Rhinox - the animal the Ogres use both to ride on as cavalry, and to pull their wagons and artillery. LMR just did a beautiful C&P of the Leadbelcher to make is a 40k unit - if he does the same thing, but adds an exploding cannonball as what's shot, instead of scrap, you have an upgraded ranged unit, etc...

So, like I said - it's possible, it would just take some work, like the Skaven did.

Fine: go make enough units for an Ogre/ Gnoblar civ, then we'll talk. I think it's fair to say that Ogres currently work better as they are[, compared to the alternative at present, which would be a woefully incomplete and unbalanced set of units].
