The title says it all. Offer up your reasoning, potential leaders, UAs, UUs, UGP, or just give us your list.

Though I tried to pick what I've seen to be the most popular options, I realize that these polls are always limited and that there are going to be a lot of civilizations that people like that aren't on this list. Rather than clutter up the available options, I'll try to keep a running tabulation of the various "others" that people are voting for and list them in this post, so please, make sure you list them.

Other civilizations that received votes (As of 6/13/13)

Ukraine 1
Afghanistan 1
Burma 1
Nepal 2
Mughal 1
Bulgaria 2
Somalia 2
Illyria 1
Phoenicia 1
Papal States 1
Haida 1
Cuba 1
Chinook 1
Switzerland 1
Tamil 1
Taino 1
Nigeria 1
Romania 1

No Ukraine/Kievan Rus'?
But I see Swahili and Canada?

Don't mean to be rude but my heritage is talking.

The Ukraine/Kievan Rus "other" option on the previous poll was the lowest voted option on the entire poll. As I said, I know there's lots of stuff that's not on the list, that's what the thread is for.

I know. That's why I said I don't mean to be rude.
I just wish Ukraine could get more notice. It makes no sense, they were a major empire and I hope people notice that. They have much more right to be included in a possible next expansion than Canada, Swahili, Armenia, Australia, Mexico, Khazars, Hittites, Khmer, Mali, Timurids, Gran Colombia, Ashanti and Sumer In my opinion.
Again, Not trying to be rude just voicing my concerns. :)

I totally understand, and you weren't being rude, I just don't want the thread to get caught up in the flaws of my somewhat arbitrary list, since it's kind of an unavoidable problem.

Ideally, this thread would become a place where people who are advocates of underappreciated civs could make a case for their candidate by offering up interesting potential leaders, UUs, UAs, and what not for those who don't know the deal. When I get the chance I'm gonna make a detailed breakdown of my list with all of that kind of stuff included.

:)Thanks for understanding my civilization playing brother.:)

Where is Italy? Its to big of a popular Civ to be listed under Other. Just because one tiny part of is in game doesn't mean anything for its exclusion. Venice didn't produce all those famous Great People or wonders we build in game. Also if you were going to create this thread I would put in more than 50 words, and the poll should be outsourced so more options are available. I just wasted my time adding 53 options in mine for a quickie post to be made.

Mughals! We need to split up India, and represent the cultures of central Asia/Afghanistan. Let's do both! Also, I think Hungary will be extremely popular too.

Ukraine colors: light blue & red or yellow
Leader: Yaroslav
Capital: :c5capital: Kiev
UA: Ornate Artwork: :c5plus:1 extra :c5culture: for every :c5citizen: population point, great artworks generate 25% more tourism.
UU: воїн (Longswordsman) - COST: 80 :c5production:/160 :c5faith: MOVES: 3 :c5moves: STRENGTH: 18 :c5strength: (receives 25% of the :c5gold: gold a city produces after attacking)
UB: храм (Temple) :c5plus:1 :c5culture: and :c5plus:25% generation of :c5greatperson: great people in this city.

Just a rough outline, needs tweaking.

53 options is not possible for a poll, so your time was kinda wasted anyways. I used the maximum amount of options available. Can we get past the "get salty at the thread-maker" phase, please?

What would be good Westernized names for those Uniques?

I had a thought for the Ashanti that involved The Golden Stool as a special Great Work - although I kinda want to see more about how GWs function I could see it granting things beyond culture in order to represent its symbolic relevance. An Akan Drummer for a UU with some kind of wide area of effect benefit for units or perhaps even cities in its radius would be an interesting way to interpret their use of drums for communication over significant distances.

Outsource the poll as I said.

Nah, I'll deal with the limitations of the forum - I don't think most people are too interested in going off-site, and I know I'm not either. Put one up yourself, I'm sure some folks would appreciate more options, and there's no need to participate in this one if you dislike it.

Well said.

With Venice in, Italy will never be a full civ in BNW
Just let it go people

Calling it now while it's still tied:

Khmer, Kongo and Vietnam will be the three most popular civs

No, Hungary will be the most popular :mischief:

Indeed, you can never make a perfect poll
(btw, I also plan to update mine, after all the BNW civs are officially confirmed)
So don't take this post as getting salty with you, rather as some observations, maybe with some tiny constructive criticism hidden in there ;)

In my ideal list I would definitely put a couple more Europeans, Bulgaria and Kievan Rus/Ukraine in particular, from the underrepresented Central/Eastern European half. Maybe even Serbia.

Also I dislike this many modern (post 19th century) civs in the poll. You have 5 (!) on your list.
I'm against colonial/modern civs in general, but I can somewhat understand Mexico, Colombia and Argentina being in a civ poll. Still, I would only put maximum 2 there as separate options.
On the other hand, Canada and Australia are just terrible options as civs. Way too modern, not unique enough by far... Even most of the canadians/australians don't want their country as a civ, that tells everything IMO.
Another terrible idea is the Inuit civ. I know that there are many people pushing them, but just no. No agriculture, no real settlements, no place in a civ game at all.
Popularity is not everything, there has to be at least some historical justification, even if we are only talking about a poll here ;)
That's at least 4 options to be used for more suited civs (for a civilization game)

EDIT: You forgot Phoenicia
I assume you forgot them, since you said you based most of the poll options on previous poll results
They were popular enough in most polls AFAIK, and historically very significant.

EDIT2: Just to be clear:
Having said all that, I still find this among the better polls in general
Most polls in the BNW threads were just terrible, this feels far better than those :)
