Yeah, I've heard that one before. Of course, I take the advice of a Paladin player I gamed with a long time ago. He said this when the GM tried to boink him for an alignment violation:

I think you meant Lawful Evil. That seems a bit more fitting for most lawyers anyway.

No, lawful neutral is appropriate for a lawyer. For a lawful neutral, good or evil doesn't matter. The law is the law.

The lawful part frusterates me to no end. No matter what I feel or think, I always find myself HEEDING the law. Or even the spirit of the law. I really believe some laws ought to be broken, and with joy. But I am powerless. I even find myself upholding the law, and feeling like a geek.
Oh to be chaotic!
