financial and aggressive because I play dearmad's mod.. more units, less gold.

expansive and spiritual

Expansive - once you get monarchy (heidertary rule) you can really use slavery to its fullest potential

Spiritual - No missed turns :) Means I can queue up slavery any time I need it.

I'm really starting to appreciate the effect on health that Expansive has, now that I'm moving up to the harder levels. It means you can put off building an Aquaduct that much longer, giving you a chance to build more troops or buildings.

I also like Financial for the obvious reasons of being able to get far more money faster. And I like Praetorians, but then really who wouldn't:crazyeye:

Aw, no love for the Organized trait :(

I chose expansive, industrious and spiritual for the reasons already stated.

Seems like "organized" should be beefed up. Maybe have it lower the cost of empire upkeep in general (city maintenance) rather than just the civics cost? This would really help someone building a large, spread-out empire.

Organized isn't that bad, though. It's just that several of the others are much better.

Financial & industrious for me, with philosophical as a close third. But generally, I like to try a new leader each time I play to not get stuck in the same pattern every game.

Financial and creative for me.

You get fast increasing cultural borders and your cities make more money so you can support a much larger empire before you are forced to either stop expanding or to lower your science ratio.
Ideal for the large/huge maps I prefer ;)

Combine organized with expansive and you get cheap courthouses, lighthouses, granaries and harbors. Great for large scale early expansion. Also it matches up with rome's early UU which everyone knows is quite powerful. Plus high health and the ability to support whatever civics you want without feeling the pinch. Mainly I think people don't look at the cheap building you get. They only see the global benefits. After an early expansion getting your courthouses up is crucial. You can favor coastlines early on with the cheap lighthouses, and harbors. This helps because you don't need to build as many tile improvments and saving your workers for the resources.

Not to say other traits aren't powerful, but to me these two combined with their UU just line up at the right place in the right time.

If I had to pick another pair it would be financial/spiritual. You can get big $$ from financial and spiritual makes it easy to pop back to War civics if the need arises.

Industrious, financial and philosophical are good. Also I like Praetorian! ;)

Creative is killer with the early border expansion of new cities; Industrious helps with wonder building. I also like Philosophical because it is nice to have all those great leaders cropping up all the time!
