What art does FF need?

I decided, why stop at just art. I may as well flesh them out a bit with a proper UU.

so I'm making a Highlander UU for the austrin now (replaces axeman)

5/4 :str:
Free Guerilla promotion
+25% vs animals
-15% City attack (they're outdoorsmen, not suited to urban combat)
No Building req (they train in the hills)
Can upgrade to Champion, Recurve Archer, or Tracker

5/4 might seem strong, but Archos are stronger. I'm making a little module for this, so if vehem doesn't like the idea, I can just maintain it seperately in my own little module, and just submit the art.

Highlander Pedia
Spoiler :
Strategy
--------------
With their extra attack strength, bonuses in hills, and against animals, Highlanders are a well rounded unit perfect for exploring the world and battling against the elements. However, they lack in city attack capability compared to similar units, and so large numbers may be needed if you wish to use them for conquest.

Background
---------------------
Trained not in cramped barracks, but out on the hillsides of erebus, Highlanders are the core of an Austrin offensive army. They live their lives camping out in glens and forests, hunting for food, honing their survival skills, fighting wild beasts, and sparring for training. This lifestyle gives them a natural affinity for rough terrain, and a good experience of fending off wild animals.

They carry a large Claymore on their back, a powerful and flexible greatsword that is carried like a polearm, but swung like a sword. The base of the blade is blunted and wrapped in dark cloth, giving an extra place to grip when holding it at the ready, and both hands are moved down to the hilt when swinging, allowing it to gather massive momentum from its huge arc of motion. Such a weapon favours combat in open spaces, though. And unlike their city-dwelling cousins, they are not well used to fighting on cramped battlements and castle hallways, much preferring combat in the field.

Oki, it's done.

If you want to play with it now, see the module attached to this post. It contains the model, as well as all the XML stuff to make the Highlander unit. I did a civilopedia for it, and even made a button image. so it looks nice and unique. Hope someone likes.

If you don't know how to install modules, check this post. If vehem opts not to use the unit, then I'll include it as a module in my next release of modules.

Alternatively, you can download only the model here

I'll do a pegasus mounted version of this model next. Although he might have to be wearing the claymore on his back, and using a shortsword for the actual stabbing. I can't see this one working too well from horseback.

If you're willing to do it, I need some art of a religion modmod I'm working on. Right now I need:

New Assassin/Spy Hero for Council of Esus.
New Governor Hero for Empyrean.
Several .DDS of various spells/abilities for related Empyrean/CoE spells the two heros would get.

The Governor would act as a domestic force, casting spells in cities that boost the city(like Adepts currently do with Inspiration and Hope), and possibly spells that boost the strength of units garrisoned in the city. The assassin would have spells that are essentially the polar opposite - weakening enemy cities and units, then finishing them off once they fail.

Not the place but... why not give the asasin the ability to sneek into an enemy city like the Great Spy from vanila BTS and allow him to cast some nasty spells once inside.
Kill population, poison water, kill GP, sabotage buildings...

If you know it's not the place, why post it here?

that would be entirely unfitting for the austrin, considering that they dislike cities and prefer the open country.

There are plenty of thrreads around for ideas. this one is for art

Sorry, also, I was talking about the guys idea for the COE Asasin hero, not for your champions. Besides I am going no further away from the purpose of this thread than you when you made a complete new unit and uploaded it. :borg:

What is the practical difference between Grapeshot and Canister shot?

Doing a little research, they seem to be essentially two names for the same thing.

Grapeshot is small objects shoved into the barrel. Cannister shot has them contained in a small bomb, allowing them to stay together until they get to the destination and then explode with more penetrating power.... The one is for close range, the other is distance and taking out city fortifications. I've actually added a city attack bonus (25%) to it, forgot to update the list.

Think you can do my art as well after you finish Valkrionn's? I mean, after all you were a major contributor for ideas in the religion mod thread.

Possibly. I'll need a bit more info about what you expect the heroes to look like though.

Ideally, a picture on the internet which is more or less how you'd like it to look. Failing that, a detailed description. Pointing to characters in fiction you'd like to resemble, or clothes that you'd like to see them wear, etc, helps a lot too.

If left to my own devices with regards to art direction, I'm likely to wander off track and do something else. I really need a clear goal to work on. Unless I somehow come up with a great idea of my own, which can happen, but hasn't in this case.
