That gives me an idea... I'm gonna make a mod for that now! :D

[offtopic]Go, go, go! Jason Varitek should be the "Captain" (Unique Unit).

Now I need a graphic for that...

What should I name the cities... :mischief:

Parts of Fenway? I'd run out pretty fast. Player names? Dunno.

Civs that will be in that shouldn't: America ... I mean, Abe in 4000bc! C'mon! And he has that stupid beaver hat on, just p*$$es me off!

And what happened to Tibet ...

a civ destined never to be in this game ever no matter if it be Civ4 or Civ2000, The Federated States of Micronesia. They will NEVER EVER EVER be in a civ game.

Um, we had Prussia, Poles, and Austria. They were in Civ 3.

I dont think Tonga will be in Civ 4.
or Sikkim Kingdom
or Sumatra
or Butu or Tutsi
or Apache
or Inuit even though I want them really bad, lunging harpoons at invaders, sharing wives

Liechtenstein...

Monaco...

Luxembourg...

The Swiss... They would never survive. Their army only carries knives...

The vatican, although it could probally pull a 20k culture win easily

Oh yeah can't forget Thailand

Fiji will never be a civ. If it was, Vijay Singh would be one of the GLs...

Switzerland is actually a pretty incredible little country from what I've heard. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they've fought any wars in the past couple centuries... yet they have 2 years of compulsory military service for everyone, at which point everyone is permitted to keep their rifle. They also handle much of the world's money. The money makes them powerful, and the 2 years of compulsory military service says "don't ____ with us!"

If there was ever an example that should inspire more flexibility in Civilization, it's Switzerland.

I was kidding... Actually, I'd like to see more emphasis on other things besides war. What with all the military pieces on the board, the temptation to fight is huge, and with the game as it is, playing a pacifist seems kind of boring (perhaps I'm not doing it right). I'd like to see more "stuff" to do with culture and stuff, so you have a more interesting game even if you choose not to fight.

And the Swiss Guard have such cute, puffy outfits...

The Swiss were the best soldiers in Europe for a period of time during the Renaissance.

Speaking of the Rennaissance...

Does it seem that CivIII is missing some eras? It jumps from the Middle Ages to the Industrial Age... Is it that the Rennaissance was close enough to the Medieval Period that the game makers consider it to be part of the Middle Ages?

I believe the Renaissance (or an equivalent) was not included because the eras were designed around the techs, rather than the other way around. There would need to be a significant number of extra techs in the tree in order to add another era. The end of the Medieval Age seems to cover the Renaissance techs as well - Military Tradition with Cavalry, Economics, Frigates, et al.

They didn't include the rennaisance because only Europe had it. The Arab world didn't even go through a dark age. China has been standing since the Roman Empire.

Personally, I think the techs are eurocentric enough. The ages are an unnecessary touch.
