I was wondering what level is the challenge for most players out here. I'm still stuck at Emperor, winning some games, but losing / abandoning more. Seems that being on a continent with other civilizations an early rush makes or breaks the game every time.

I play very large pangea maps with at least 11 civs only and still try to win a game at Prince level

Depends on the map. Under standard conditions, Prince is ok. But if I play all random it can be very challenging.

Made the (pretty steep, imho) transition from Monarch to Emperor around Christmas and expect to stay there for some time. While I have played a few games on Immortal and Deity, I didn´t find them very enjoyable as you can wind up with unwinnable games through no fault of your own.

I play standard maps with 18 civs and some custom rules. I almost always win at Prince, but I'm always just in the top-middle of the pack on Monarch. It's tough to break out with so many civs. The fact that the AIs start with two settlers and archers makes a axeman/chariot early war very difficult...

I just can't get past noble :(

I can't say I'm "stuck" yet. I've won the last two Noble games (space and diplo), and before that had finally nailed Warlord. I think I'm playing one more Noble game before giving a shot at Prince.

The Monarch difficulty seems moderately challenging to me. No matter how I crush other neighbors, there's always other civ who research a lot of technologies and possibly bring doom to my civ if outnumbered and have stronger military.

Beyond emperor, they're the same as they are at emperor...

Personally, the first level where i lost the game was emperor. It was also the only level where i've played more than 2 games. I found it pretty challenging the first 4 or 5 games i played. I think i'll move to Immortal next game i play.

I'm currently stuck on the Settler level.:( For some reasons, I was unable to avoid the domination win. Building an ermpire that can withstand the test of time is much more difficult than I thought.

I'm not 'stcuk', but I don't feel as if I have mastered Monarch yet...

I still lose some and occasionally I'm at a loss how to start most efficiently...I guess I'm still just learning at Monarch. Once I feel I have it under control(better than 75% win rate) then I'll move on to Emperor.

Try a tiny with 2 AI on immortal its doable. Just attack, attack.

Thats not a real game. Thats just "oh lets see if the random number generator favors me".

Larger maps are always much, much harder to win on.

I can beat Deity on tiny or duel-sized maps because all you do is chop rush units.

well gee wheez he was wondering how to beat a high level game, might be a good way to start

Pure Attack seems to work pretty damm well on epic prince VS 9 AI, imo

monarch, I have had less success on the big maps and beyond that it gets stupid.

But if you want the huge score do the tiny deity :crazyeye:

Yeah - but that's probably because you got bored with deity ;)
