The intrepid colonists have reached what will be their new home. There is no going back. The only things they have from their homewolrd are memories...and the Old Earth Relic.

But what is the Old Earth Relic? An IPhone,a Playstation 4, a deck of Magic: The Gathering cards?

Tell me what you think the OER is. Best suggestion wins an invisible, intangible, imaginary robot buttler.

Probably different for each Sponsor. ARC's will be something like a big mac, while Polystralia's will be something misogynistic, like Tony Abbott's brain.

Doesn't it tell you what it was when you dig it up?

I thought I had one that was a computer with information on it.

Probably a building full of servers that host historical data of humanity. But the technology is so old that nobody knows how to use the hardware anymore. Which is good, because that's the reason people forgot how insane and stupid people were in the 21st century when earth was slowly gravitating towards the great mistake while everyone was busy with their own petty problems.

Shards of the Cross. Ark of Covenant. Dictionary with pictures. The britannica. It could be really anything you want it to be. :3

I'd say it's exactly what it was in the past games.
An Obelisk, a monument, a giant stone pillar, whatever you wanna call it, I bet its the same.

It's an Old Earth Relic which means it was either brought back from Old Earth, crafted from fragments from an Object from Old Earth, or a Historical Landmark created in honor or memory of their journey or old homes. What I imagine is a small but big sheltered Marble Pillar with an inscribed message on it either telling the story of their journey to this new world or something perhaps similar to that. Try something like this

But Small and under a nice awning and with words carved in it perhaps

Nobody is going to haul a marble obelisk to another solar system! The OER should be something small and light. Since you can build them in every city:

- Jewelry
- Hologram replicas of Earthern art (statue of david, mona lisa etc)
- Books (probably digital, paperback too heavy)

Stuff like that.

Postception!

EDIT:
Spoiler boring :
For this reason, each LEV Destroyer carries somewhere in its hull a real Old Earth Relic. It can be something small - a rock, a piece of cloth that belonged to one of the first settlers, but nevertheless this Relic is more valuable than the entire weight of the station in gold. Because it inspires not only the crew of the Destroyer, but also the entire army fighting beside it; the entire colony that spend so much resources to build it.
From the LEV Destroyer Civilopedia text.

Meh, it's really just a museum. The building quest really comes down to, tacky gift shop (no maint) or slightly-tainted-by-actual-fact historical holos (+1 culture). The delay is while the committee argues over the final draft.

Excuse me. I mis-spoke. I should have said when a unit steps on to the tile, and not dig it up.

In any event--I have gotten ones that deal with Earth computers.

It is a building, not an artifact. They bring it with them from Earth.

Old Earth Relic is a building you can build in your city. They aren't located on tiles.
