What do you when there's no Iron?

Tried the Stealth Bomber thing today but had had no RA partners by the time my last wave came around. England DoWed me just because Elizabeth is a , Hiwatha DoWed me a THIRD time(he's still butthurt that my CS ally took Akwasasme during the first war probably), Persia was friendly all game long(we'd even made a few DoFs) and suddenly turned on me(crippling his Cavalry by losing my Horses but still), and I don't know if I can afford to put Korea and farther ahead(he hit Modern in 168 which worries me already...).

Either way I'm probably gonna throw this one out, but if anyone would care to take a look at it and tell where I've screwed up along the way, or if they think they can salvage it, feel free. My bpt certainly feels lower than it was at this same time where I've been with Babylon before even though I played pretty much like my last few Deity science wins, except I actually had more Crossbows this time(but they got blown up by Persia when I was going to deal with Hiawatha) than the last time Napoleon lined up a gigantic army on me and never DoWed. I probably made some dumb mistakes I'm just not seeing.

I think this could be fun if I actually get it to work  Yes I know this is derailing my own thread kind of but oh well.

It looks to me like settling that city up by the wine was the trigger that angered too many civs. I can see why you settled that city as the general area you are in is resource poor in terms of sites with multiple copies of lux to sell. Maybe would have been better if you had settled one city to the east (on top of the gems), one to the west (coastal river hill one tile NW of current city) and 2 more to the south then you wouldn't have angered them quite so much. Also, maybe you could have played the diplo game a bit better, e.g., trying to bribe the other civs to war each other earlier?

Otherwise you aren't in bad shape with regard to the Stealth beeline. You have 10 of 12 of the needed techs set up to finish in the next 10 or so turns (6 GS, Rationalism policy, Oxford, one RA - you really needed several more signed, but you have oil and could get started with regular bombers). But I don't see how you won't lose at least 2 cities at this point.

I tried playing the save game a bit thinking that maybe I could save Akkad and Borshippa, but to no avail as Persia came with rifles after a few turns. The wine city was lost to Iroquois of course - no stopping that. Your cities are in a poor defensive situation due to the map. Unfortunately, on Deity the map is often the winner or loser. If you could have held off this multi war for 10 or so more turns you would have had it.

Yeah, as you said, that city seemed almost necessary to me to get the extra sellable resources. It's definitely what pissed the Iroquois off(which went horribly the previous two times as you probably saw with the CS' puppet ), and it's probably what irritated England, but that was settled shortly after I finished NC I think, and Persia was friendly(would sign a Defensive Pact) as late as turn ~160, so I'm not sure exactly what set him off. Maybe he suddenly said "DARIUS WANT".

I think the main thing with RAs was I was bit reluctant to pay an extra 100 gold to sign with China/Japan when they were somehow behind me an era because I wanted to keep a second CS. I probably should have sucked it up and done it. I also just plain screwed up and forgot to resign with Korea(didn't sign with Askia since was coveting my lands for a while until I denounced the Iroquois with him and he started playing nice again). At least I know the map is partly to blame and I didn't play it too horribly.

Thanks again!

Just wanted to say I finally got that Deity dom win with the Stealth strategy.:)

I had no Iron again. Egypt tried to push me around a bit, but I blew a GS on Rifles, pushed him back, and got a fat peace deal on turn 160 or so. From there, I waited on Stealth and got it around 200(I had a few wars that screwed up my RAs, screw Cathy for being deceptive) and went to work. You were right snarz, it was REALLY cheesy. Took out Korea, used the puppet I got to attack Russia and got peace deals from both of them, got a massive peace deal from Alex, took Suleiman's capital, then came back and finished Gehngis and Alex(who had wiped out Songhai in the meantime). Logistics Siege III Bombardment III Air Repair Stealth Bombers, holy god.

The highlight was an angry Sejong offering me a very fair deal for his borders:

Sorry if I wasn't supposed to bump this but it wasn't worth its own thread and it was better than bumping the 4 month old stealth thread :P I might actually try an LP this with America at some point, it was very interesting.
